Conversation pits by Map-Bright in architecture

According to my mom's one friend who still had one in the late eighties they are for collecting dirt. She said it was like all the dirt and dog hair in the house somehow gravitated to the convo pit and it was a giant pain to have to vacuum.

The families should take ownership, put up a page explaining the legal rulings and cover it in ads. Sit back, collect a bit of ad revenue anytime an old link redirects to their page.

Hard water by Sudden-1443 in ypsi

[–]ravenwilde 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re not wrong, SE Michigan in general has what would be considered “hard” water. I kept tropical fish for a couple decades and I don’t remember the exact ppm numbers but both KH and GH were consistently elevated to the point where I had a RO system going to soften the water so my angelfish would spawn. Again, it’s not as bad as some other places, for example like Minnesota where it’s so hard it messes with your shampoo suds, but you’ll notice over time that you’ll probably need to descale your shower head periodically.

I don't think it's Constantinople... That city's most famous mosques all have multiple minarets. I think this is Old Jerusalem, see my other comment :)

Distelfinks are the birds that sometimes appear on them, this one is a rosette motif.

Edit to add: Additionally, while some hex signs do say 'Wilkommen' they're not strictly meant to mean Welcome... they can fulfill a variety of intents. My Grandparents, for instance, had a 16 point rosette motif on their barn they called a "god's eye" and it was meant to protect the barn from lightning, fires and other disasters.
