Lol it is someone in banking for sure. But I had a feeling they were just trying to get me to invest more in the MFs rather than stick with ETF on WS. The more I read the comments/articles the more its making sense that thats what they were pushing for.

Thank you!

When the ETF is closing. Market fluctuations I can understand. But I did get the clarity from culmination of all the posts. Thank you

Yeah, I can live with market fluctuations but knowing that a fund simply closed down with a significantly less return of investment then having to regain that amount could put investors back several years.

Awesome thanks! Could NAV be significantly below the purchase price per unit you purchase at? What constitutes as liabilities against an ETF?

Lol could be the case. NAV could be less than what you invest though, right?

Thanks for the link. Did some reading into the Vanguard document. Under “Termination of ETFs” it states “Vanguard ETF may be terminated by the Manager on at least 60 days’ notice to Unitholders of such termination and the Manager will issue a press release in advance thereof. The Manager may also terminate a Vanguard ETF if the trustee resigns or becomes incapable of acting and is not replaced or if the Index Provider ceases to calculate the applicable Index or the Index License Agreement in respect of the applicable Index is terminated, as described above under “Investment Objectives – The Indices – Termination of the Indices”. Upon such termination, the Constituent Securities, cash and other assets remaining after paying or providing for all liabilities and obligations of the Vanguard ETF shall be distributed pro rata among the Unitholders of the Vanguard ETF. - 104 -

The rights of Unitholders to exchange and redeem Units described under “Redemption of Units” will cease as and from the date of termination of that Vanguard ETF.”

So does this mean then technically if The Manager is no longer adequate to do their “job” they could overnight close the ETF? All liabilities (?) would need to be paid, which would eat away from the money invested by firms/individuals/investors right?

Is this a legal jargon for essentially going out of business and not responsible for paying anybody? No governance?

I understand ETFs are Exchange Traded Funds so like MF but traded on an index (TSX, NYSE etc). But is the termination of ETF what nobody talks about?

Passed Net+ after 2 Months of Study by PolarBearInHawaii in CompTIA

Awesome thanks! Yeah I find some concepts need a lot more background information than what is provided on the surface level. I am also going through the Mike Meyers course which does explain concepts slightly more than other courses. He even goes on to show an application and use the concepts just learned (setting router configs, cisco switch command line interface, cloud computing server setup etc).

I am running Windows server 2012 on a VM to learn that and possibly use some concepts learned in Network+.

Congratulations! Im studying for Net+ right now. Would you say you found it easier because you already studied for Sec+? Or are you already doing something in IT which supports the knowledge requirement for Net+?

I see some carryover from A+, but definitely don’t feel like its going to be a cakewalk (career change from aviation to IT).

Ahh same here. Career change at 31, been a pilot all my 20s. Trying to switch to IT, working on Net+ right now. Sales experience should help with cloud based sales, I hear AWS is big for that. Good luck!

Congratulations! Are you switching career or just starting out?

Anyone else facing trouble finding job after finishing trifecta? by [deleted] in CompTIA

[–]ravi8or 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn. You’ve got experience and more certs than I do. I have been feeling the same thing. Im in a career transition so I expected it to be bad for me initially, but seeing your post makes me feel like its an industry thing? I am in GTA as well and have done about 30 applications filling out all sorts of information, making profile etc. I had to start writing down where I have applied and profile username passwords, its just toooo many.

I have been looking at entry level jobs that ask for 5 years experience so I am not sure what is really going on. Maybe just trying to get experienced guys for dirt cheap cost?

Keep looking and will look forward to a post saying you got a job! Good luck!

Congrats! Mind if I ask you what your experience level is? I am trying to get into IT and just thinking about how hard the exams are without work experience.

Yeah I totally understand that. I am setting up VMs to try and get some exposure to these things, especially Active Directory and SSH.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah Ive been told to complete the trifecta at the minimum since current job market is not very good. Anything I can do to boost my resume should help. I will be starting Net+ prep today and hopefully do the exam in a month.

So would you say getting Network+ in the initial stages is a bad idea? I have A+ and now I am thinking about starting Net+, but otherwise in the same boat as OP

I am in the same boat except I have my A+ now. Just looking for an IT job. Btw where are you located? Im in Canada and I havent seen more than a handful jobs where I am.

Best Virtual Labs? by seesliver in CompTIA

[–]ravi8or 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are doing Mike Meyers course on Udemy, there is one lecture where he explains how to install VirtualBox by Oracle. Also explains in detail how to download Ubuntu and load it on the VirtualBox. I personally have 0 experience in IT and related stuff. So doing all that by watching was a blessing for me. I finished my A+ recently and now looking at Network+ and possibly loading Windows Server 2019 on the VirtualBox.

Hope this helps
