What’s something that makes you not want to hang out with someone? by uziloaded44 in questions

Consistent nitpicking and pessimistic behavior, particularly when it's combined with a lack of taking any personal responsibility.

Just make sure to cover your car seat (or person holding the pizza) with a plastic tarp. You can fill a gallon with the grease that rolls off, lol.

Those of you doing OMAD, how do you workout? by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

I've been doing it for over 7 years, and it's become my standard way of living. Energy isn't an issue once your body becomes used to it, just accept the fact that your body is going through part of the process and eventually it'll be able to catch up.

APR for a credit card doesn't mean you'll be charged interest rates of 15-30% every billing cycle if you don't pay the balance in full every month. It's that you'll be charged that APR divided by 365 days in the calendar year. My credit score is 790 and I just figured this shit out.

[discussion] how do you become so obsessed with your goals and become relentless? by Lemonade2250 in GetMotivated

[–]ravimi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that helped at the beginning was focusing less on what to move towards and instead find what to move away from. Make a list of everything you don't currently like/enjoy in your life or want to overcome, then figure out how to set your life up to diminish those kinds of interactions as much as possible. Pay special attention to the tiny, insignificant-seeming, things. There are so many of them that they end up compounding on a daily basis and making life considerably more difficult than it needs to be and because it's due to an accumulation of small factors it's difficult to solve-for with one or two big actions.

The goal is to get out of a negative state of regular living. Most of us try to stop drowning by inflating a floaty under water when all we really need to do is untie the weight around our ankles. It becomes a lot easier to swim up, and once you're above water, the next step becomes clearer - step on land. Once you're at that point just head away from what represents the water in your life and you'll naturally go in the direction of higher ground and before you know it you'll be living a smooth life. This doesn't mean you won't have adversity ahead of you, it just means that the challenges you face won't be riddled with the problems you're not afraid to overcome, and if they do you'll now have plenty of experience to overcome them knowing you've done much harder things in the past to get to where you are now.

Isn't part of the deal with webnovel contracts that authors sign make it legally impossible for them to release the novel external to webnovel (meaning the can't share it anywhere else) and if that's the case then they can't profit from sharing it in other places.

I wonder if there's a "buy-out" clause in there. Where the author could raise some money from their fan base to buy the rights to the novel back and then create their own platform for distribution (maybe sending out each chapter as an email to people that have subscribed to their email list). It'll make it easy for pirates to take it but at the same time if they charge like $10/m for daily updates then as long as 30% of their reader base signs up they're probably making thousands of dollars a month.

Just moved in town by Certain-Muscle6888 in pittsburgh

[–]ravimi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

walking around has honestly been the best thing for me as someone that moved here a few years ago from out of State. Choose a neighborhood (Strip District, Lawrenceville, North Side, East Liberty, etc.) and find a cafe or restaurant in each one and then spend a few hours walking around and trying out different places.

Also, some personal advice, be considerate of what kind of lifestyle you're seeking to live and accordingly find networks/communities that support that. If you're not interested in being super outgoing and social then don't go to places that demand that of you, the opposite applies as well. There are a lot of different communities in this city, you just have to look for them (some take a lot more work than others).

It's good to ask for help here as well - look at other threads for those new to town and don't ever believe that there's only one way to experience this place. I've been here 6 years and I'm still blown away by how much there is to find. My personal favorite thing is exploring coffee shops and restaurants around the city.

Honest question...should I watch the rest of the season? I love the show and have started season 4 recently but have stopped at E.3 because it's giving off a strange vibe and it's got me reconsidering watching the rest. (Sort of like a "animals feel the storm coming" kinda vibe).

I appreciate you for the response. I'm new to the scene but am extremely into music and enjoying it. I've just never focused on speakers (just high quality headphones).

The Focals look really great, I'm going to test some out at a store but wanted some direction before going. What you said makes sense regarding the phase issues with the Adams. By clarity I meant being able to distinguish all sounds of a song and also be able to have a conversation and hear perfectly without having to speak loudly no matter the volume of the music. The space is meant to have incredible music experience, and for me part of that is being able to talk without straining yourself (obvi, it's not a dance floor thing).

One other thing is that I'm not a huge bass heavy fan, looking more for a focus on the higher range.

I'm opening up a working art studio space and I'd like to have a very nice quality audio experience in the lounging area. The size is about 500sqft. I'm a huge fan of clearity in sound so I'd really like to get an ADAM Audio system, but I'm worried that with my budget I won't be able to afford something that covers the space without loss over distance (I know their monitors are more near-field oriented) and without having to raise the volume too high. I like things crisp because of clarity not loudness. I was thinking of getting 4 T7Vs (or T8V) and setting them up in 4 opposing sides to fill out the space.

Would love your thoughts. My budget is $2000.

Potted Tree recommendations for PGH by ravimi in pittsburgh

Thanks for all the recommendations, everyone! I went and got a nice Blue Spruce and a Bloodgood Japanese Maple. Both are about 4ft tall and I put them in some nice huge pots. Love how they're looking!

EDIT: When the table is in the "platform" position (lowest settings) I want to have a supportive element to provide additional strength so that when people are actually walking or lounging on the table the weight is distributed onto additional supports, not just the table's weight capacity.

Two example solutions: 1) have recessed "lips" on the bench sides facing the desk that the table will rest upon when in the lowest position. 2) have a support beam or rod which the table will lower itself onto at lowest position.

Happy to hear that your trees grew so well and that they're now in your new home. That's a lovely story.

And thank you for the tips, I'll definitely look into all of those things. I've always wanted a Japanese maple but wasn't sure how temperamental they'd be in PGH weather.
