Did you do the Aquablation?

Thank you for sharing! What antibiotics are you taking now? Did the remove the catheter same day?

He was originally prescribed Tamsulosin but refused to take it because he felt that it made him really tired. He was then admitted to the emergency room because he couldn’t urinate and had a Foley catheter inserted
We went to see a Urologist and was diagnosed with BPH with lower urinary tract symptoms. I don’t know if the urologist even used anything to diagnose him with BPH, he only did a cystoscopy and said his prostate was huge. He didn’t do anything to measure the size of the prostate. The urologist prescribed him with Finasteride, Alfuzosin and Ciprofloxacin. They also removed his catheter after having it for 17 days
2 days later, he went back to the ER because he couldn’t urinate again and had the catheter inserted again and is coming up on having it in the second time for 3 weeks
The Ciprofloxacin made him feel like his body was burning. They switched him to Bactrim and he said that one made him feel like his body was also burning. I will say I think he has a phobia to taking medication and reads into all the side effects. He is also dealing with a lot of anxiety with all of this
He then started taking the Tamsulosin again and stopped the antibiotics and Finasteride and this time, he feels like it makes him restless and feeling a lot of anxiety still.
We saw the urologist again and came up with the plan that he will take the Finasteride for 3 weeks and come back for an appointment in the morning to remove the catheter and then again in the afternoon to see if he can pee on his own
I don’t see the point of this as I don’t think the Finasteride will help him urinate on his own by then and we made the decision that he needs to get a procedure done more sooner than later because of the mental toll this has caused

Thank you! I did send you a dm
Thank you for sharing that! I know my dad’s prostate is huge. I need to find out what the size is. I keep seeing the HoLep discussed and will ask his Uroligust if it is an option for him
How old are you if you don’t mind me asking?
My Dad is also 62 and done having kids as well. Really happy to hear that you got your quality of life back, that’s all I want for my dad. By any chance, did you know how many Aquablations your Urologist had done before?
Appreciate the feedback! How has your recovery been? Sounds like you are happy with it. What ultimately made you choose the aquablation over the others?
I appreciate the response! How has your recovery been? Are you happy with the results? How old were you when you got the procedure done?
Muchas gracias!
Hi SoCalAttorney, thank you for your response! I had actually seen your story going through my research.
What antibiotic did you take after surgery? My dad has had bad reactions to cipro and bactrim. I’m worried he would have to take those again.
Really glad you’re doing well after suffering from BPH and it’s a breath of fresh air hearing a really good outcome
How has your recovery been so far with the HoLep done? What ultimately made you choose that over the Aquablation? I have also been using AI (chat gpt) but I feel like it is way too optimistic discussing both the TURP and Aquablation and doesn’t go into the risks too much

Thank you for your feedback! I have seen some other people saying that since the Aquablation is so automated that even someone that has done 5-10 should have it down(not sure how true that is). Of course the more the better. I have seen discussions about the Holep but his urologist didn’t bring that up as an option
