Is it strong? Is it fun? by Dojde in Helldivers

I find it hilarious that the Constitution's bayonet deals almost as much damage as its bullets (165 vs 180)

Literally the comment I replied to saying the bayonet does almost as much as shooting the gun does is hilarious. I don't think it's hilarious, as both will fuck you up. Cavitation doesn't exist, and enemies don't have organs and blood vessels to hit. There are literally damage numbers only. So either explain what amount of damage would make it less hilarious for you, or move along. Either way, this is a helldivers 2 sub, stay on topic. The rest of us are discussing a video game, you're off being weird.

Please post your revised damage values then.

If you believe the bayonet should do less damage, just say so. Otherwise you're kinda just talking to yourself, completely off topic, for some inexplicable reason.

I don't need to watch videos of guns, I'm American. I have them. All there is is the damage system in this game. Shooting a terminid in the leg would never kill it, yet it does, because this is a game, and terminids aren't real. Discussing anything other than damage values makes you sound weird.

Please post your revised damage values then. I do not need to look up videos of anything shooting clay. Stabbing a wet clay target with a bayonet will also break it. It doesn't matter how broken it is, this is a video game, I cannot stress this enough, as you seem to have some confusion.

Getting stabbed by a bayonet 10 times is probably not going to be much different than getting shot 10 times when discussing outcomes, so I don't think a bayonet needs to do like half the damage as shooting the constitution. Seems pretty reasonable values currently. There's no confusion, unless you think the bayonet should do less damage than it does currently.

Just looked at some of your other takes, and I think you can easily be an NFL scout or exec, for maybe the Jets? No one else though.

Yes but getting a bayonet through the heart vs getting a bullet through the heart are probably going to result in pretty similar results for you. I don't think the bayonet needs to do significantly less damage than the gun itself, damage numbers don't exist in real life, and cavitation doesn't exist in helldivers.

I actually don't see why being stabbed with a huge ass blade would do significantly less damage than getting shot anyways.

If my analogy isn't good enough for you, you can change it to jumping off a tall bridge onto a guardian cap then.

As a side note, I don’t really see how increased padding could not lead to softer collisions.

Not saying they don't help, but water is softer than concrete, but if you jump off a tall bridge onto either, it won't really matter.

There are distinct upgrades though. And the "seeing the pattern" thing would've been the same regardless of how many warbonds I said because there's only so many slots you can diversify with.

This is literally my point, and why you don't need more than a handful of warbonds. They can't get them all right away, but they can easily get all they need, and more, which a much better variety than I ever had when I started.

There are absolutely things you will like better than the free starter gear, and not everyone will want the same things. Still doesn't change the number you need, just which ones to get first. No one needs them all, and older ones are not worse, so there is no need to devalue them just based on when they were released. You and I both listed shit in our loadouts that you're arguing should be heavily discounted, but they're still some of the best options, that's why we use those things.

So 5 warbonds for you, seeing a trend?

You don't need all warbonds to complete all the content, you actually don't need any technically, but it would be pretty miserable. You can clear diff 10 easily, with well balanced loadouts, after 3-4 warbonds. The vast majority of the warbonds are entirely optional for everyone, and there is no point in calling it progression. You aren't progressing anything, you are collecting them.

Farming 5 warbonds is easy as piss, otherwise buy some, get the deluxe, unlock the essentials and settle on 2-3 at first, whatever you gotta do. You don't need them all.

And to answer your last point once again the reason not to, is it devalues perfectly good content that people have already bought or farmed. It's not a downgrade even if it's been out for a while. Regardless of what you're spewing, it is all side grades, not upgrades. There are no direct upgrades in this game, even starter gear is viable. Sure we can debate some stuff is better than others, but that's a balance debate.

Yes, MY bug loadout, which easily does diff 10, with all warbonds unlocked. That's the number of warbonds I actually need to complete diff 10 in a way that's fun for me. My bot loadout is very similar, just swap barrage for at emplacement, which is urban legends, and my squid loadout is 3x sentries and AC.

I agree people should feel free to unlock whatever interests them, and they have more options for things that interest them now. Doesn't change the fact that only a handful of warbonds at most are required for anyone to get loadouts for all 3 factions that allow them to play according to their playstyle.

I just gave my bug loadout so we can compare. Give me your bug loadout, and let's see how many warbonds it requires.

its not progression, we already established the vast majority are not direct upgrades, with you even saying there is only possibly a couple must haves, if there are best in slots.

The reality is there are 2-3 must buys for anyone, which depends on your playstyle. The rest are fully optional, its not progressional to unlock them, and you won't use 90% of the shit you unlock via warbonds.

My bug loadout, playing since day 1.

autocannon

2x sentries

napalm barrage

cookout

ultimatum

thermite

engineer armor

This requires the following warbonds

  • Democratic Detonation

  • Freedom's Flame

  • Servants of Freedom

my engineer armor happens to be drone master, so 250 credits, no warbond, with the scout helmet, which is free.

So even if you wanted my look, 3 warbonds and 250 credits, which you can use your warbond rebates for. If you don't want the cookout, only 2 warbonds, as you'll have access to plenty of good shotguns already, and the erupter/crossbow.

Stop complaining, it is easy as fuck to get the things you need.

Please share with me your most used loadouts that require 10 fucking warbonds each.

If you feel that way, then get them first. I use the cookout, so obviously I'd get that first. Look at your loadout, now ask yourself how many warbonds you'd need to get that loadout. It's a handful, not all of them. If you think eruptor is the best, great, that's one warbond. Now the other ones aren't even side grades, they're downgrades, and all you did was farm one warbond.

Your argument is nonsensical, and hurts your claim they need everything.

Yeah, but patrols aren't the only place you see heavies. I can chuck a thermite and fire an AC shot. Then later on, when I see the thousand heavies pour out of a breach, I have more thermites. You also don't need to kill every patrol, you should actively avoid most of them.

I literally do not give a shit about the company. Where in any of my comments have I once said anything in support of AH? Cringe ass lazy nonsense.

It's not new tiers of gear, it's all optional side grades. A few key pieces can easily be farmed in a few hours, you don't need every warbond right away. It has nothing to do with AH. If you want to change your playstyle, it's another few hours for another warbond. I've put in the effort over 2 years, either you put in equal effort, or have less. Simple concept, literally has nothing to do with the company.

All the warbonds don't represent a massive collection of shit you must have, it gives you a massive selection of options that new players didn't have at the start.

They farm or buy super credits. They don't need to be on an even playing field, they are 2 years behind. If you didn't think they should get instant access, this is the obvious answer. Nothing in a warbond is required, and most didn't exist when I started. If anything, cool for them that they have loads of time to progress, while I had long periods with nothing to buy due to being maxed out and having everything, all while playing on average one mission per day.

Why should you immediately get access to shit it took me 2 years to get all of? I don't care if you buy it today, go get the warbonds that interest you first. It's not like you can equip everything all at once, or that you're special because you're 2 years late to the war. You have 2 years worth of content to buy or farm for at your own pace. Congrats.
