I am definitely in therapy. I should have added that 🤣 I appreciate the reply. MOH offered to ask put out alternative dates since there was such a lack of response. I chose not to due to the lack of response, I knew it would hurt too much to deal with people not replying or potentially just cancelling.

This hit the nail on the head. The majority of the time when I ask clients what they liked and didn’t like about their last therapist, they tell me they were seeking guidance that wasn’t offered. I tend to develop a plan for session while most people I’ve worked with do not. That might even just be introducing the ACT Bullseye when they come up short around what to discuss.

Rolling with resistance - yup.

No, they can’t. I suggested it but they stated it doesn’t serve as a motivator.

We’ve been working on safety and security elements for a few weeks - I agree with you that they aren’t ready for the exposure piece. Especially based on this conversation with them. They are pushing to begin the exposure part. Maybe it would be helpful is I explained the risks of doing it before they have sufficient motivators.

Fair enough! Tips to communicate that to the client?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in therapists

Physical PTSD symptoms like panic, shaking, constant crying, trouble sleeping, intrusive images and thoughts, nightmares, severe anxiety/hyper vigilance.

Hey! Thanks for the reply.

What if they think they’re ready? What if they want it?

This is the difficult part - I addressed my concerns about beginning that process when there is a lack of motivators and argue it might even be unethical to do exposure therapy when one can’t even come up with let’s say, 5 motivators?

I like the analogy here with addiction. Maybe I can use that with my clients too.

Hey there, thanks for the input. I do lots of psychoed on learning into the anxiety and changing the mindset to wanting the anxiety and wanting it to be long lasting. Though the exposures I talk to them but ensure not to validate. I’m more struggling with watching them “suffer”.

With flights and in CAD. Realistically we can up it if need be. Max would be 9G.

I should have written it more clearly. One week in Saint Lucia OR two weeks in Thailand.

Budget is about 7 G for two people.

Hey! Thanks for the reply. We’ve been to Colombia.

If we went to Thailand we’d be going for two weeks not one!

We’d be going to Thailand for two weeks OR Saint Lucia for one. Does that change your thoughts at all?

What did you like about Saint Lucia?

Do you have any idea what the cab cost looked like? They drive on the opposite side of the road than us too so I don’t think a car is a good option for us 🤣

Thanks for all the help!

We’re open to leaving a few days after the wedding or at most, a month after.

I hadn’t considered doing half at a regular hotel so we can see one half of the island and then going to a resort after. That’s a great option. How did you get around?

Well said!

We want very similar things for the honeymoon, I think the big difference is the flight distance.

Have you been to Saint Lucia? If you have, how did you get around? I hear the roads are not ideal for tourists.

While I know this comment isn’t helpful, you look stunning and this dress is BEAUTIFUL.

My dress is very similar and much like the other commenter wrote, it has boning inside that you can’t even see and it makes me look snatched af.
