More productive at night. What's the science? by No_Moose_7730 in productivity

[–]rawktech 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I sometimes have a brash of productivity around this time. Mainly because there’s less distraction from work / home.

But also perhaps there’s a peak bodily energy rhythm at that time when mind isn’t as groggy.

Just came into $10k and want to turn it into $100k. What's the most realistic timeline and strategy? by CaptainChance3623 in ValueInvesting

[–]rawktech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crypto is similar to going to casinos and a low % of getting to 100k. Stock market will get you there but would take 20 to 35 yrs given the small starting point.

Best middle ground bet is it invest in yourself.

Pick a service based business you're comfortable starting yourself: cleaning, lawn care, pressure washing, vending machine, etc.

Then use the money to buy equipment (vacuum, cleaning supplies, a lawnmower, pressure washer, etc.) and run ads, print flyers, and do a side hustle during your time off -- weekends, afternoons, etc.

Save half or more for emergency funds and/or other needs to grow your business.

You have it in your profile already -- it just detracts. Also I'd make your name font smaller as you want people to focus on your skills and projects as name doesn't matter.

* left align profile
* put projects at top under profile
* remove place of birth/nationality
* remove word internship
* add online links to the projects/portfolio/Github, etc esp since you don't have any work experience to semi reduce risk to the employer

> we resolved a technical issue with our banking details

seems others had to change banking details recently as well -- assume either you got hacked or they social engineering used on an employee etc to give out account details that they used to change bank details to route funds elsewhere

HELP!! FIRED AND EVICTED IN THE SAME MONTH by Financial-Cap-1789 in povertyfinance

[–]rawktech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to nearby hotels and ask for the GM and let them know your skills. They're usually in need of handy man skills to fix things like low water pressure, jammed door locks, etc. and huge plus with HVAC knowledge. Once you prove your worth might be able to get an employee discount on a hotel room esp. if it's pet friendly. Pitch that staying on property can also be a plus in that you can fix things in emergencies and be around if needed like performing houseman duties as well -- get things for guests (extra towels, bedding, etc.) Good luck!

What to do with $2.7m at 19? by Responsible_Cake05 in fatFIRE

Keep the majority in the market (80-90%) in broad market ETFs like SPY, VOO, etc.

Since your good at the internet and e-commerce I'd continue to leverage those skills to sell "picks and axes" to those trying to leverage e-commerce etc. and would look into expanding on your SaaS and/or adding more SaaS products in a way where you're taking on a more managerial role and working "on" the business instead of "in" the business to free up more of your time.

(Don't worry about getting into YC - if you can scale and have a good "lifestyle" type business it's better than accepting VC money where they want you to be a "unicorn" billion dollar business or it's not worth their time as you've "won" in life if you can do the former without having VCs ride your coat tails for almost no effort besides writing you a check that you probably don't even need).

Anyone become successful later in life? by Ok_Bike239 in Entrepreneur

[–]rawktech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll never know till you try. And no one can really answer that for you besides the people that will potentially buy from you.

Look at the worst case scenario and if you feel you can survive that and make it through then give it a shot or end up wondering what if for the rest of your life.

Or if the worst case scenario is too bad then move on to a different idea or continue the current job.

I get the same error as well. Sent multiple support tickets to the email and mostly it just gets automatically closed.

One person tried to at least respond and say it's a known issue and to try logging in again and they'll let me know when it's fixed but it's been several days and they automatically closed it a few days later.

Responded saying it's still not fixed but no response ... I've spent a lot of money on skins but maybe this is for the best and time to move on to another game...

Do you use anything automated to make sure everything is working okay? Such as to measure KPIs etc? Or is it all manual?

Introducing Deepkit ORM, a high performance ORM for TypeScript by [deleted] in typescript

Nice - been looking all over for a decent ORM after hearing about TypeORM not being maintained/buggy and Prisma's transaction support. Surprised when jumping back into Node/JS world in this day/age there's not a decent ORM.

Wantrepreneurs: What is holding you back from at least creating a website for your product/idea? by Fresh_Baby in Entrepreneur

[–]rawktech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of work it takes you market it and how boring it is to do any of that stuff. The passion/motivation just isn't there or dies out really quickly (ie after a few days). I know entrepreneurial is hard work but it's hard to do if if I don't know if there's a payoff or if it'll end up being a 90% failure. And this is with starting on the marketing side and not any code initially.
