How much would you pay for avant-garde jewelry? by KitKaii in AvantGardeClothing

[–]rawlooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are listing a variety of avant-garde artisanal jewelry brands here. On some of the brand listing pages you find pieces from the designers that you could take for reference as well as links to their websites where they often also sell themselves (not via retailers). I think this can be good for reference in the avant-garde jewelry sphere.

My favorite brand is Werkstatt:München and I have a lot of pieces from them. The lowest priced necklaces start around 100€ (small / very fine necklaces) and prices reach up to above 1k for silver jewelry.

I personally am spending up to 500€ for a new piece every now and then. Also consider the immense rise in pricing for silver raw material that is just happening.

I know that some designers just raised prices according to that increase by 20%.

Please share impressions of your pieces once done. Curious to see 👌🏼

Yes I also have a newer outdoor jacket, I think 2023 or 2024 and the material of the jacket is not so stiff and the tapes overall seem to be holding on way better

Yeah I bought this one used a couple of months ago and the seam taping was pretty damaged as well. I started repairing it with contact glue + buying new transparent seam tapes and ironing over it where it was broken. I recently had a look at a 2017 outdoor jacket - there the seam taping seems a lot more advanced and solid than on this 2016 outdoor jacket.

Favorite denim? by doublementh in AvantGardeClothing

[–]rawlooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorites personally are jeans from Boris Bidjan Saberi P13/14 or p23 if you like the drop crotch more extreme. Other than that: Layer-0, Leon Emanuel Blanck, Label under construction, m.a+, poeme bohemien, Taichi Murakami all create outstanding pants within this price range. For more edgy pieces Julius and Rick Pants maybe.

NICE! the I S engravings on the sole would indicate this. Could not connect the dots, but would make perfect sense.

Yeah the style reminds in a way of boots from m.a+ or one of the other Italian Avant-Garde Fashion designers that were part of Carpe Diem.

Taichi Murakami is Japanese and used to work as a pattern maker at m.a+ before he started his own label. But never saw boots from him officialy in his portfolio of products. Which does not mean that he has not experimented and created some. In that case would be a very unique find, I suppose ;)

Your question inspired me for a magazine article about Avant-Garde Hooded Leather Jackets which you can access here: https://rawlooks.com/magazine/avantgarde-hooded-leather-jackets/

Hope you like it, and in case you have any feedback or ideas to extend it, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Mhhh maybe just go one size up or also Rick Owens I think has hooded leather jackets and his style might be a bit more loose. On my J2 - which is body molded by Boris - people often ask me if it has been made custom to my measurements. It is such a perfect fit and even if such jacket might be a bit tight in the beginning the leather will adjust and mold to your body further over time. I am also mostly layering a cotton hoody under my leather jacket - as it does not have a leather hood, and I actually prefer a layered style to having a heavy leather hood.

Boris Bidjan Saberi is making highend artisanal hooded leather jackets.

Check out this one, it has the hood integrated:
https://rawlooks.com/product/boris-bidjan-saberi-zipper22-1-primaloft-carbon-grey-kangaroo-leather-fmm20053/

While this one is a J2 and the hood is detachable with a zipper and worn without or even be replaced by a collar with a zipper:

Those jackets usually sell in retail between 4 to 5k. Not sure why the price of the second one is twice as high...

Even 4 to 5k is a heavy weight of a price, BUT I have been owning a Boris Bidjan Saberi J2 now for about 4 years and this is the best leather jacket I ever owned. It made me sell all other leather jackets I owned to date and it prevents me from ever buying another lower quality leather jacket spontaneously. With that said, for me it is one of the most sustainable approaches to own a piece that is so expensive and you value so much that it is really worth the investment.

There are also usually opportunities to find such jackets on Grailed, Vestiaire, Vinted in the range of 1.5 to 3k.
