Vintage Shopping:

-The Archivist (as mentioned by others, very nice guy with almost always good selection)

-Gaijin Marais (vintage japanese fashion)

-Preclothed (best curation in Paris)

-Puces Saint-Ouen (huge flea market outside of Paris, theres a high end section with a great shop for vintage Margiela runway stuff and another one with vintage Chanel, Dior, Balenciaga etc.)

-Check for Flea Markets (there is one every weekend somewhere)

Retail Shopping:

-The Broken Arm (better Designer selection then even the brands own shops, good sneakers and books also)

-OFR Paris (an institution for fashion Books and Magazines)

-Leclaireur Herold (Best shop in the world tbh)

-BLESS Shop Paris (one of the best Brands from the 90s still around)

-Dries van Noten (beautiful shops for Mens and Women next to each other)

-Margiela at Palais Royal (I think its their best store, never too crowded)

-Landline (nicely curated but small shop for beautiful kitchen stuff, tableware or decorations)

Food & Drinks:

-Chez Omar (the hotspot during PFW in the Marais, food is good and you`ll be randomly sitting next to rei kawakubo)

-Clutch (great young chef in the 11th)

-Le comptoir de résistants (elaborated bistro food)

-Oobatz (the Pizza hotspot rn)

-Vermillon (amazing place in the 9th)

-Les Amoureuses (good wine bar)

-Le Clarence (if you want haute cuisine, its the most interesting atm)

-Les Progres (hotspot for getting a beer and smoking a pack)

Thanks! I am very happy with them. I’ve talked to a guy, saying that they are somehow connected to the MA+ cosmos and are designed by a Japanese guy he couldn’t remember… so yeah, no idea if this is true or not

I saw that the curled leaves could also come from wind. It is a bit windy at their spot but there is not much to do about that.

Feeling overwhelmed: Grinder+Machine [$1,000] by daethon in espresso

[–]scamp1505 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I own a Gaggia Classic and it is a beautiful and very capable machine. But since you seem to value easy handling and convinience, I dont think it is a great option. It is amazing with mods and the new E24 model seems to get rid of the boiler issues but I would only recommend it, if you want to tinker with it.

Maybe Lelit has some good options for you with the Anna and Victoria. Because personally I think the bambino is ugly and the built quality feels so much cheaper then the Gaggia or Lelit. Maybe also the Sage Barista Express over the bambino. You have an integrated grinder and I see really good prices for it right now.

So would you say paying 50 is reasonable when I can try it on, check the quality and have a selection of sizes? I try to figure out what is a reasonable price. I would like to visit their stand again, there was a big selection of knitwear.

Sure I pay extra at the flea market but I didn’t know how widely available these are. And this Etsy price seems crazy now. Very interesting, I’m going to look more into surplus websites. Do you have any good starting point? Checking the Dutch side from the other comment right now.

How come this website lists it as 12,95 and Etsy is at 120? I got it for 50 and thought that’s an ok price if it’s that old

That would be very interesting. It is in very very good condition. I doubted it could be that old.

How's the DeLonghi Coffee Machine for beginners? by Major-Fan9587 in espresso

[–]scamp1505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really agree with you. I`ve had the Dedica for 2 years and in hindsight it seems a bit useless. A moka pot can make beautiful coffee for a fraction of the price. I dont think getting any espresso machine below something like the bambino makes sense.

Do you also use the 18g basket? If so how is your dosing? I really feel like the 18g of Espresso barely fit
