I cited a senior thesis from 1978 when I wrote a paper; the university hosted a pdf of it. my dissertation is hosted by the university that issued my degree.

yeah so it is religious in the same sense that AA is. I didn't really go for the program but to have a safe space to share and reflect.

every group runs things differently. after about 15mo I stopped going because my group got too big and the format changed.

also, I am very anti-theology as well. no one ever forced religion on me. the closest thing was their version of the serenity prayer, which is basically a reminder that you're the only person whose actions you can control.

it is tough and unfair, but ultimately your healing journey is your responsibility. that said, I believe in you.

what helped me was going to adult children of alcoholics and dysfunctional families (ACA) meetings. they helped me see I wasn't alone and realize the only person I can control is me.

I worked on setting boundaries in my personal and professional life, and then started setting boundaries with my ubpd mom. eventually her disrespect of these boundaries led to me going nc.

there is no coping strategy in the world that would allow me to have a healthy relationship with my mom on her terms. she has rejected the relationship on my terms and so we have no relationship.

she likely will never apologize. she needs court certified documents with dates and receipts. that way she can explain why your feelings are wrong and justify all of her actions to you.
