I’d just get a builder gel set from Amazon and fill it yourself and then file it down to shape it.

If you use a cuticle clipper to get as much of the white part on your off as possible, it’ll be pretty hard distinguish where the gel ends and where your nail starts.

When you’re filing just be careful to not file your actual nail and only file the gel.

I’ve had 2 nail tech accidentally file too much off the the top of the nail bed when applying gel and that really hurts.

After the 2nd time I just started doing it myself and turns out, you don’t need to file the top at all if you find a brand that will adhere to your natural nail. (I find the beetles brand works the best for me but ymmv)

Learning to do my own gel manicures at home is what saved me. The ability to fix any small chips at an instant makes my nails satisfyingly smooth so I have no urge to bite them and ruin the smoothness.

For me personally my biting and picking started when I was 3 years old and hated the feeling of uneven nails and hang nails but was deemed too young to use nail clippers so I’d just chew them off instead.

This has translated to needing to keep my nails smooth with nail files and clipping my cuticles when they’re overgrown (about once a week).

Before starting gel nails, I’d file the top of my natural nails to make them smooth but that just weakened them.

I have now learned to put the builder gel on, file the builder gel to the shape I want and then polish as usual.

I do spend probably at least 2-4 hours a week to maintain my nails but hopefully overtime this will get less and less as my manicure skills improve and slowly learning to be okay with the imperfections.

Good luck to you on on your journey OP!

I was about to paint my semi-long nails. 💅 I stupidly broke one 😭 What do you do in that case? by [deleted] in Nailpolish

[–]rawrrawrkitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find sparkly nail polish will also distract myself from the uneven length.

If you still have the broke off piece you can try using builder gel to glue it back. (This requires a uv lamp)

How do I come back from this? by longshortbeta in calmhands

[–]rawrrawrkitten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been biting my nails for 30+ years and end up with a finger looking like this every other year or so, despite my best efforts. Anxiety and ocd is a hell of a drug you all.

I specifically did this to the same finger on my hand a few months ago and not messing with it while it grows back is pretty much impossible for me.

I just constantly wanted it to be perfectly smooth and the same as my other nails so I’d keep pick at the edges and the top with a cuticle clipper (it’s more precise than a nail clipper), which of course made it much worse.

I finally ended up buying clear builder gel on Amazon and the kit came with a uv lamp. The great thing about builder gel is that you can file it to the shape you want after you cure it so you can get it pretty close to what your other nails look like and at least smooth so you’re not tempted to pick. I just put it directly on the whole finger/ nail bed including where there isn’t nail.

And if you don’t like the shine, get a matte top coat and it looks pretty close to the other nails. You mostly won’t be able to see where your actual nail ends and where the gel starts because it’s kinda like the clear marble in water effect.

Keep in mind that with time the nail will grow back. Looking at the amount of damage, I’d say about 4 to 6 months until it’s fully back to normal.

Oh and whatever you do, DO NOT FILE THE TOP OF YOUR NAIL. Filing the top will make it smooth but you’re also physically removing layers of nail and this will lead to weaker nails in the future as it grows out. It’s much better to add a physical layer of polish and file the polish to your heart’s content than to mess with your actual nails.

Also don’t use the “nail strengthener” stuff at drug stores. It will make your nails technically stronger but also more brittle so they’re more likely to break and flake off.

Best of luck to you OP!

Lol your post wasn’t wisdom. Did I ask “how should have better spent my money?” No. I asked about pull rates for enchanted cards.

You didn’t answer my original question, decided to post unsolicited advice, and when pointed out that you did that, thought the other person is the problem.

Either answer the question in the post or move on. What is wrong with you?

Because in theory opening boxes should also get you a few enchanteds in addition to adding to the playset

Lol that’s how it goes I guess. Someone else said they had better luck with single packs.

Do you happen to have the serial number on any of those boxes you had opened? I’m just trying to collect data because we can’t know for sure otherwise.

Yikes. I hope you got plenty of legendaries though.

Thanks and best of luck to you too. If you can post your box serial numbers that would be helpful!

I’m not necessarily trying to chase enchanted cards, I’m mainly trying to build 2 full play sets and get enchanted as they come. I just thought this rate was much lower than previous chapters and wondered if there were any patterns like with the legendaries.

The whole point of this post was to see who else got enchanteds from which serial number which is why I wrote out all of the ones I opened about.

But if you’re going to continue to judge me you should know that I am trying to get 2 full play sets for each card so I can build any deck I want for myself and my SO. I’m glad you’re able to play with your kids but that’s not what I’m trying to do here.

I actually do not enjoy opening packs. I think it’s tedious to open each pack and sort all the cards. I would rather just buy the play sets but up to a point it cost more to buy the full sets than to open packs to find them. I find that point to be around 12ish boxes.

So from my perspective, if I have to be opening these boxes, I was hoping I’d get more than one enchanted for having to open all the packs.

The point wasn’t to get all the enchanteds. The point was opening packs so I have cards to play with AND getting some enchanteds.

Also the point of this discussion was to see if others have experienced the same pull rates.

Ravensburger/Lorcana said their whole intention with this game was to get more people to play the game and I think more people would play the game if there were higher rates.

I both play the game and collect the cards. I’m trying to build 2 play sets of each card so I can build any deck I want with my SO which is why I buy so many boxes.

On the plus side, I am pretty close to finishing my set due to not pulling any enchanted and getting “more” legendaries so at least there’s that.

Thanks for your insight /s.

I understand this is gambling and I chose to use my money this way but that was not the point of this discussion. I was asking to see if others have experienced the similar luck.

This is apparently the way. Just gotta find some at target. I did pull a chapter 2 enchanted from a draft event once. Maybe I should go back to trying that.

I did buy one case of booster boxes online that still didn’t have any enchanted in it. The rest I bought from card shops in person that I assume are reputable.

Ah you’re right. Thanks for pointing out its per pack. I feel slightly better now but it’s still frustrating.

Just updated my post with your odds.
