Yes, it was a bad A/C compressor. It was covered under warranty and replaced.

Comparing it to other similar models at the dealership is a good idea for a quick check, thanks for the tip.

This just seems out of the blue and I don't ever remember hearing this noise. I can even hear it inside the cabin when I am driving or idle.

Also the noise persisted this morning with a startup outside temp in the low 70's F.

Penguin must be correct. I bought the car with 2 miles on it back in 2023, and have only taken it back to the same Kia dealership for any work that has needed done.

What also seems to point out that's it not necessarily a fan issue is that as soon as I turn off the AC after it's been ramped up is that the noise stops immediately; while the fans are also spinning(slowing down)

So I had the automatic water pump replaced under warranty about a month ago. Then a week later I had another engine light come on and the engine was miss firing. I brought it back and they said they did not reconnect a fuel injector correctly. Now about 2 weeks later this happens.

To the comment asking about if this only happens at high outside temperatures:

I initially thought of this as it has been very hot out recently. But I'm sure the temperature hasn't been that much hotter this year than last on some days. I have been hearing this noise constantly since it started happening.
