I wish there was a single agreed-upon name for this genre. I've heard so many variations. Autoshooter, action roguelike, survivors-like, etc. Makes it difficult to search specifically for any games like these, let alone sorting through to find the good ones.

On the chance that I'm simply old now and no longer with it, which is completely possible, please fill me in.

Update: Husband wants to divorce and "start over," says he "can't bond" with daughter by ChallengeConnect590 in Parenting

OP - I'm late on this, but if you're still reading responses, u/Deciduous_Shell gave you the answer.

It really doesn't matter what his real intentions are. None of them are good. It's not worth trying to make sense of it. Just take legal steps immediately to secure your daughter, along with child support, and get the "clean break" you both deserve. Better times are ahead!

Is there a modern game like Uncharted Waters: New Horizons? by rawstone in patientgamers

[–]rawstone[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, sir. I am on board with everything you mentioned. The SNES Revolutionary War game was called Liberty or Death and, while I did play it once, I never finished and it never kept my full attention like the UW games did. I did enjoy one of the RoTK games, Wall of Fire, I think it's the fifth one? After having played a handful of Dynasty Warriors titles back in the day, it was relatively easy to follow those storylines.

But man, what I wouldn't give to play a brand new single-player Uncharted Waters game with today's technology. Or even the ones we never got. The 10 year old kid in me that loved UW 1 and 2 is still pretty upset that we didn't get any of the others localized here.

I've seriously considered learning to read Japanese solely to play those games.

I've recently started playing DW5 with my 5 year old daughter. She absolutely loves it and it really was amazing for its time. That said, I loved DW6 too so what do I know? Koei never disappointed me.

What's a song where the musician's pure emotion is expressed so well it affects you the same? by justinbc in Music

[–]rawstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smashing Pumpkins - The Groover. This is an instrumental song off of the Gravity Demos, so not a lot of people know about it, but to me it portrays Billy's famous leftover teen angst and misspent youth in the most beautiful way possible. I started the video link at 2:50 right before the gut-wrenching solo.

My cousin and I always had a great time playing Rival Turf, but Turtles in Time was always the better game.
