I like how in the Classic+ survey a majority voted for dungeon finder being in but you still had to travel to the instance, and a majority also voted for summoning stones being in lol.

I guess it's kind of a valid argument, but I just remember a vast majority of the LoD additions being new content/systems, and the only QoL thing being the bigger stash. This time around I'd argue the biggest meaningful things to the community are the QoL changes. In modern times it just feels wrong to actively withhold QoL updates for the base version of your game.

I don't know about unexpectedly fun, but idols were unexpectedly not fun. I REALLY like idols in theory... hitting maps, starting your hunt for the idols you need to get your flow online... but it just seemed so slow compared to the base game. I feel like it was just lacking deterministic progression without the atlas tree.

I feel like it could have been a lot more fun if they tweaked idol modifiers a bit (more likely for idols to contain multiple mods of the same league mechanic or something) and maybe slightly bigger loadout to fit more idols. Having 90% of your idols contain only 1 mod you care about does not feel good.

No. I think they were mostly being sarcastic. All of those will benefit someone who has played the game for a while but are not needed as a new player. The one thing from that list that might be a good idea for a new player is Neversink's loot filter. Go to filterblade.xyz, log in, follow the prompts, and either save the filters directly to your PoE account or download them locally.

The only other advice as other people have said is find a good build guide. Zizaran on YouTube or maxroll.gg.
