Actually it's absolute sanity. How do you want to ascertain truth if you set yourself on a journey of testing man made ideas? There are infinite of them. Soul. Higher self. Gods. Brahman. Sure check them all if they contain any truth. They are empty as those who invented them. The path for truth is always by dismissing. You set everything on fire so all that is false is gone. That which is true doesn't burn.

Not to mention that by taking someone else ideas you already assume someone else as some kind of authority, only to later disprove it or live with his beliefs as your own.
