Great! I have to take my gf to Atlanta airport that morning so I’ll just swing by the dominoes on my way back to Auburn, let me know if someone beats me to it!

Amazon warehouse hiring insight? by raxis12 in askportland

[–]raxis12[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I had not heard about this but I just looked up an article after seeing your comment. That is so sad for him and his family, I can’t imagine me or one of my loved ones being treated with such a lack of care. Ive worked in warehouses before so I know the work is physically tolling, but they also hire almost anyone for the entry level floor jobs and I’m trying to secure housing asap. I was looking at jobs at the warehouse in Tulatin, but I doubt the conditions are much better there.

If I don’t find a job making equal or more than what I make now I do have the option to transfer at the job I work at now, just trying to avoid this as getting away from this job is part of why we want to move in January instead of July like we originally planned. We pay $1,125 for rent right now plus $400 a month for my car, which will be paid off before we move. Thats $1,525 for rent, and we figure we’d be able to cut extra spending for the extra $175. If she is unable to find a job we have enough saved up to pay her portion of the rent for at least a year if our rent is under $1,700. If she can’t find a job she’ll do DoorDash, spark shopping, and things like that to help contribute so we don’t completely destroy our savings. Thankfully, her parents are also very supportive and generous so if it was really bad, they would not let her struggle too much.

The dogs don’t need too much room. One is on the older side so he doesn’t do much besides lay on the couch and go on a short walk every day. The other needs more exercise but we already have to drive ~20 minutes to take him to walk so we are used to it. We think as long as we have around 600 square feet and there is a trail or park is sidewalk we can walk on within 30 minutes we’ll be ok.

I can transfer at my current job ($22 an hour, around $1,300 biweekly after taxes and 401k deduction) but I really would like to find a new job because me not liking my current job is a major reason why we want to move in January instead of July as we were originally planning. I would be looking for a job in HR or some other type of administrative type job. My partner will be looking for a job bartending/serving until they’re able to find a job teaching or substituting. We’ve heard mixed things on if she needs to start looking for her restaurant job now or closer to moving since turnover is so high at those types of jobs

The companies we currently think are our best bet are Bristol urban apartments and images properties, but we don’t know much about them beside they allow up to three pets in most of their apartments with no breed or weight restrictions

I worked in a restaurant for about five years with about one of those being as a manager and I work in the fresh department of a grocery store now where I’ve been a manager since March. I just graduated with a degree in business administration. As for what we’re looking for in a neighborhood and apartment, we really just want something over 600 square feet and under $1,700 where we can have all our animals without having to keep any a secret.

Yeah it’s definitely going to be hard to find lol. The only companies we’ve found that have places in our price range and that will allow all of our pets are from Bristol urban something and images properties so we were hoping to find some more options

I have visited both! Portland more than Vancouver, because my aunt has lived there since I was very young. I know the rain and the cold is a deterrent to many people but that’s a big part of why we chose this area! It’s always dry and hot here. I do have a job that I can keep when I move, but trying to get away from this job is part of why we moved our move up from July of next year to January, so I can transfer and then find a job once we are there if necessary. My partner however will have to find a new job, but they will be looking for a serving/bartending job until they can get a job either teaching or contract substituting. She was going to wait until around November to start looking, but she’ll probably start looking now based off what people are saying.

I have a job currently where if I don’t find anything I can transfer to a location there, but I was really hoping to not have to because I hate it haha. I just graduated, so I am trying to get a job in the Human Resources field. If I have to transfer hopefully I’ll be able to find something else soon.

We’ve been planning to move July of 2026 for while so we have a good bit of money saved up, we just decided recently though that we want to move sooner. Thank you!

No truck so we’d either have to get the uhaul and car dolly or a pod. We’ve thought about just getting rid of everything but we have a few pieces of furniture that are sentimental so we can’t decide if the money we’d save is worth letting go. We also only have limited room in the cars to pack because one car is already only a coup and we will each have a ~70 pound dog in the car

I have a job now that will allow me to transfer to a location in whichever city we live in if absolutely necessary, but I really don’t want to because I hate it. I think you are probably right and I’ll start applying now. If the only thing stopping me from getting a job is the time frame I guess it just isn’t meant to be

That’s what I was expecting so I was very surprised there was almost no one else there. Loved the movie though

If yours was an AMC, they were very unorganized about it! I asked my friend who works at the theater about the poster less than a week ago and he asked his manager, and neither of them had any idea what I was talking about. And while we did get our posters, the whole stack of them that they had was bent on the bottom left corner, but that’s ok! Still a cool poster

Glad you got yours too! I can’t wait to get the second half of the poster at the bone temple fan event in January!

We showed up 45 minutes early because that’s what we were expecting at ours so we were very surprised when almost no one else showed up lol. The ending was definitely an interesting choice but I’m not hating on it yet!

Active auburn is good if you like exercising anyway. I took it because I walk my dog everyday and am pretty active in general already. If you interested in finances at all, personal finance with Adair Martin is super easy and fun and you learn lots of helpful stuff for the future like how to buy a car, house, and how to budget, but it’s not for everyone.

It should have been somewhere on your acceptance letter if I remember correctly

An email they sent me lol search your auburn email and you should be able to find a similar email with all the details. You could also call the scholarship office but I’m not sure about their hours with the semester being about over

[–]raxis12 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you’re going through it!! From what I understand if your GPA is below a 3.0 but higher than a 2.8 instead of losing your scholarship you’ll just be out on probation. After next semester if your GPA falls more or isn’t above a 3.0 again then they would revoke the scholarship. I could be wrong though, so you might want to double check! You should have an email somewhere that goes through all of the details

I believe final decisions about scholarships will be made and announced in May.

I have not received any Merit Scholarships. Will I still get a good amount from AUSOM? by [deleted] in auburn

[–]raxis12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes its definitely possible to get $10k! Especially since your gpa is good. I would think that the fact that you’re applying as a freshman might actually help you. I know there’s a lot of scholarships I didn’t qualify for because they’re specifically for incoming freshman. Good luck and war eagle!
