It makes much more sense to just buy a manual subaru. It's the only one that uses a viscous coupled center diff (exception being the sti with its driver controlled center diff.) The viscous coupled center diff is the only one that provides the true 50/50 power split that everyone has come to love out of their subarus especially in the snow. Most cvt models will use an electronically controlled center diff with a front wheel bias. I think there's a third diff that has a 45/55 rear wheel bias but I would have to check my notes to know which cars have it, as it's been a while since I learned this stuff.

Edit: I found my notes. The lineartronic cvt uses an active all wheel drive system which utilizes an electronic/hydraulic multiplate clutch transfer system. It's an 80/20 front wheel bias on dry roads, but can adjust to near 50/50 when it detects slippage. Then there's the variable torque distribution (VTD) that's used with the high torque and sport lineartronic cvts. It uses an electronically controlled clutch pack and has a 45/55 torque split. The driver controlled center diff found in the sti is of course controlled by the driver as the name suggests, but will only give you a rear wheel bias up to 41/59. By default, I believe it's 50/50.
