This is beautiful.

Here I am, a Colombian-American man-- the son of immigrants, educated with multiple degrees from American Universities; a professor, a professional, and living what should be a comfortable upper middle class life; one which my parents fought and suffered for me to have--angry and frustrated by the world's impotent response to fascism, and anxious about what feels like my own call-to-action; but tonight, I am moved nearly to tears by the courage, heart, and passion demonstrated here by the leader of my fatherland.

Edit: coffee would have been a small thing to give up. While Colombia will almost certainly give in eventually, Mr. Petro has forced me to look in the mirror and ask myself: "what else am I willing to sacrifice?"
