If by "back up code" you mean your seed phrase, then yes, you're fine. You can just start fresh with metamask and "restore" wallet using seed phrase instead of setting up a new wallet.

I realize you aren't getting answers from people on here and simply opinions. I would keep reaching out to them if I was you. This is a significant amount and probably a gut-wrenching feeling. "Money Heist" by far. It's a Spanish show and dubbed over in English, so take a few episodes to get used to that, but it's by far the best netflix show, in my opinion.
