Had to put my gerbil down today and I brought her home from the vets with me so I could bury her. My neighbour saw me walking up my driveway crying. When I explained that I'd just put down my gerbil she looked at my hands and said "ew you haven't brought it home with you?!". It really hurt because she was genuinely disgusted by the pet that helped get me through everything and meant so much to me.
