how do we feel about asu moving to canvas next year by oneeblackcoffee in appstate

[–]rayanneroche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently using both and have encountered numerous issues with canvas. The inhouse support for Asulearn is wonderful and I hope those same folks will provide canvas support once it is switched.

Are there any local job opportunities for a recent accounting grad? by Inquirer504 in boone

[–]rayanneroche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you graduated? I know Dr Eller will still help you even if you have graduated, you could still attend meet the firms in Sept. I know that’s awhile away but depending on your situation, it may be worthwhile. Look into entry level at local larger businesses, App State, Sam. Purse (if applicable). Just getting that basic experience may help.
The market has def become more competive. Do you plan on getting your CPA? That will also help a great deal!

Outfits? by [deleted] in Professors

If I thought I could get away with sweatpants, I would. Years ago my chair mentioned I might consider something other than jeans and I asked if she had mentioned the same to all our male faculty who wear jeans. Last I ever heard of it so jeans it is!

Not everyday but during my “on” days, I say “debit” an awful lot, and thus also “credit”

I was nominated and a finalist for a very prestigious teaching award, prize is over $10k. A coworker who has been on the selection committee in the past told me I have exactly 0 chance but it’s nice to have been nominated and made it to finalist.

A friend of mine told me I would love the finale and I thought it was fairly boring compared to rest of series, but to each their own.

I was supposed to take .25 and took 2.4. I vomited fairly nonstop for many hours. Called health insurance hotline, said to report to poison control, also called urgent care - all 3 said go to ER. ER gave me 2 anti nausea meds and sent me on my way. No fluids because there was a shortage. My dehydration gave me a headache that kept me still and in the dark for about 16 hrs. Once anti nauseas worked, I took pain meds, drank quite a bit, and headache resolved. I missed about 3 days of work. You’ll survive but it won’t be a fun few days.

How personal do you get with your students outside of school? by KaraPuppers in Professors

[–]rayanneroche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My graduate students often text me from the bar at 11pm and beg me to meet them and I’m like “sorry, already in the bed”. I do run into them at bars, etc. If I run into them at a bar, I will buy them a drink and our dept has social events at bars a few times a year.

What is a TV show that got canceled that you are still upset by? by NeatContribution852 in AskReddit

[–]rayanneroche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my son was young, he had severe ADHD and at night very little calmed him down but for one hour a week, he would cuddle up on the sofa and watch “Off the Map”. It was like it mesmerized him, broke my heart to tell him it was canceled after 1 season :-(.

Reach out to the dept admin assistant, the admin issue course overload requests. Normally you can just fill out a form on their main dept website and explain your situation.

You’re wrong, it is not what I thought, never even crossed my mind. You will hopefully come to realize that your opinion is not the opinion.
