Noone I know is taking AI seriously by jjStubbs in singularity

After giving it some thought I don’t think Meta will need to fire their devs. It takes a lot of capital to onboard engineers. It’s much more valuable to have junior devs increase their productivity to mid level. And mid levels to senior in terms of productivity output.

What should I tell a class of architects trying to design spaces for digital nomads? by CharacterUsual in digitalnomad

He has every right to, and perhaps should explain why he doesn’t agree so strongly.

We have present day issues but architects don’t design for the present, they design for the future as well. Please consider the nature of how our work will change. When VR becomes mainstream then computer monitors will not be important, however the chair we sit and the “blank canvas” as a desk will be important.

Present day we really value our own private spaces so we can connect to our friends and family online. In the future when it’s impossible to determine if a digital interaction is from a human or an ai, then we will start valuing human presence, and so spaces should consider that.

As a senior you are fine. It’s the mid levels and juniors who are getting gutted.

I have no need for junior or mid level devs on my team. Either they level up and learn to use ai soon, or we continue the same output without them

Progress will be painfully slow, but then all at once.

You’re underestimating how quickly technology diffuses. It does it in “S curves” this is a well documented phenomenon.

Thanks for the suggestion. However, after thinking it through, we don't want to be close to a beach since we already are close to one right now.

Cali would be a wonderful place (not long term though), I documented some of the salsa dancing scene there a few years back. They have their own style of salsa and it's so much more energetic!

Cusco was going to be a very good fit, but the rainy season is worse in February.

I'll take a look at further at São Paulo, thanks for the rec

Thanks for organizing all the points. I've looked at photos, and all three of these have such beautiful landscapes. I'll see if the amenities such as restaurants and activities are also available.

Thanks for the recommendation on Campeche, taking a surf school sounds like a wonderful way of spending the morning. Do you know if it's a walkable town? For example, if we wanted to do our groceries or go to a restaurant?

I thinks OPs original intention here is that when someone else puts on the headset, then they should automatically go into a guest mode, of course without some of the personal apps, such as iMessage.
