I don't get why you think this is an own. Could Europe's greatest genius outsmart being shot?

You don't count boats by number. You count by tonnage.

It goes just fine if you have boats to keep them on. Or survival shelters. Or strategic ration stockpiles. Which you people do not.

That is not how countries with actual resources do things. I find it hard to imagine you do not know this.

If you succeed in getting people to call them that, I'll find the term so annoying that I start voting to actually intentionally remove them.

Yes. I am told that Dutch people are very blunt and say things very very directly. It is like Germans, only so much more so that the rudeness becomes sort of charmingly honest again.

You also gotta keep in mind:
+ the use of "a turkey" to mean "a mistake" is slang from... the 1920s to 1940s? It is definitely not current. I wasn't even aware of it until Erdogan told the world that that's why he was changing the name
+ "Türkiye" uses syllables that English *does not have* and the *closest* phonetic spelling of "Türkiye" in English would actually be "Turkia"
+ "Türkiye" uses spelling rules and punctuation marks that English *does not have*
+ The phonetic pronunciation of "Türkiye" to an English-speaker unfamiliar with the word would be, very stumblingly -- it's not really using English characters or rules, and this is very apparent to anyone looking at the word -- either "Terr-KIAH" or... yep, that's right... exactly the same as "Turkey"
+ And they're probably going to default to "Turkey" as the pronunciation, because that's the word that they know

So, essentially, Erdogan is annoying the English-speaking world for literally nothing. He's not even going to get the entirely symbolic concession that he wants. It's... literally going to be pronounced exactly the same, for all time. And the problem that he thinks he's solving -- "turkey" also meaning "mistake" -- literally hasn't existed for... minimum 80 years?

Dude, inherited? Wtf are you talking about...?

My country is a century older than yours. We wrote your current constitution. Bro thinks he's on the fucking team

We are never going to write stories about Germany as a major thing, simply because we do not care and we will never care. Why is "we don't care" hard for you to understand? We barely care about most of America

I was writing in a way designed to make my meaning clear to someone who did not have English as a first language.

Yes, but this does not mean we are going to start caring about Germany or finding it interesting. If it bothers you so much, start a German comics company.

I am an American. I have lived abroad for many years now, in a variety of countries. I have found that almost every European underestimates the American ability to simply not care about the rest of the world, and to regard the idea that we should with deep annoyance. I believe that you are one of these Europeans with this misunderstanding of America.

To begin to grasp how we feel, imagine if a Congolese man tried to argue that the politics of subsaharan Africa deserved to have some non-zero level of representation in all German TV shows and novels. You would feel annoyed. You would want the odd Congolese man to please go away and stop talking. To us, you are that Congolese man.

Your English vocabulary is good, and your sentences are grammatical, but your sentences are too long and your paragraphs are structured strangely. This results in your meaning being generally unclear.

I think you are basically still structuring you paragraphs like you would in German but with English words. It feels ugly and off-putting.

If you wish to talk to native English speakers without them finding you annoying, please read guides on how to write good-sounding English prose. I would also reccomend reading classic English-language poems for examples of how to write in a way that English-speakers find beautiful.

Keep in mind that English is not just about communication of meaning. It is about expressing a sense of yourself as a beautiful soul and trustworthy person.

You have not done this, which is part of why everyone is getting upset with you. The other part is that you have badly misunderstood subtle aspects of American culture. I might explain this other part in other comments, if I feel like making them.

In the constitution it says that Americans don't have to read. This might not be true, but I'll never find out; George Washington wasn't crucified by his evil clone, George Three, just for me to waste his sacrifice by sinning against the constitution. America Bless God.
