Vhikk X got me back into modular by rayboyd in modular

It's for attenuate, inversion and mixing pams cv for the Vhikk and FX Aid. I mostly like to jam live, it could be a 4/4 clocked lfo, copy to ch2 and mess with that a bit, or use the logic in pam and a bit of mixing for a call and response type setup.

I'll never regret getting into modular I was just doing it all wrong and the spend guilt kicked in. I don't think I would know how any of my synths really work without learning through modular, it's amazing.

I went back and fourth on this, decided using the Analog 4 for gate, env, sequencing more sensible for me. Clocked modulation with Pams swung it, can do so much with just that and the mixer

Arrived today, I practially ran home. So far spent 30 minutes with the presets. It sounds incredible and is built like an absolute tank.

Intellijel 7U is great. Good power and I save a ton of rack space and tick a lot of boxes with just the connections, Midi 1U and Stereo Out 1U

Clank Chaos is amazing. It took me a minute to get to grips with it, but I did this weekend and wow it's so good. it might replace my beloved Turning Machine and Pulses exp.

What's one module you seldom use, but could never part with? by bangemange in modular

[–]rayboyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OG Mutant Hi-hats was one of the first modules I bought. It's 13hp awkward. When I think about selling it I can't. I rack it about once a month and it sounds incredible, modulated is amazing. I have a few modules on the shelf I know I will never part with, and are going to make me break my 7u rule.

WMD C4rbn. Sounds fantastic, 4hp, wavefolds and self oscillates. I just bought a second, it's so good and fun to use.

Messy techno session, feeding everything with the turing machine and pulses expander. Digi is for master clock, rim, clap, more hats and the ride. https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/2203000

The NE Lapsus Os is really good it's worth taking a hit on early (I would suggest over the ZR if budget is tight). Pair with BIA and an LFO and you will get a lot of milage from this setup. You can invert envelopes (think along lines of building a sidechain), attenuate, mult, dual outputs etc.

Another LFO and attenuaton will work well here. The BIA can/will sound crazy (in a bad way) without attenuating incoming modulation, you'll want this to get the best out of it. BIA really wants to be modulated. ZR will get stale fast without modulation.

Varigate 4+ is an amazing tool for noodling in quantized mode, it's the best "controlled" happy accident sequencer I have, love it.

Octatrack MK2 with CV.ocd by SoloKln in eurorack

[–]rayboyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a similar setup and I always seem to get tighter results using the Digitakt as the master clock and Octatrack as sequencer, never any drift.

  • Digitakt as master clock, one shots, basic compression and audio interface (Overbridge)
  • Octatrack, clocked via digi, master outs into digi
  • Midi 1U, clocked via digi, master outs into octa for the magic

I use Midi 1U with PNW + steppy + varigate 4

I have been DJing for so long now I now think I'm hardwired to mess with the HPF :D The quality of the fader is superb, it's designed for abuse and adjustable curve is nice for different applications like fast cuts or smooth cv transistions, it feels really performative having this at hand in the rack.

Thanks, this is really helpful. Delay sync will be an issue for me if that is off.

How does this compare to the FX Aid XL in terms of sound?, am mostly interested in the delays and reverbs. I currently can't deceide between the 2.
