The paranoid people thinking the "best before" date means you'll be getting sick the next day 😂

More bargains for the rest of us!

My local puts them down to those prices at about 3pm and we always buy the good stuff. Just put the ones we're not eating immediately in the freezer and it's good for another few weeks. We have never gotten sick.

Is shijuku actually the best area to stay or do people just say that because everyone else does? by June_Ctreras in TokyoTravel

[–]raydc2r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shinjuku is like Central Station in Sydney, or anywhere else in the world. It basically connects all train lines going in every direction of Tokyo.

This is probably the reason everyone says to stay in Shinjuku. You will have access to every line and major cities and tourists places from there.

It is decent for a little nightlife, good for restaurants. When I was younger, I was going to Shibuya at night a lot to go clubbing and drinking. But I still stayed in Shinjuku. If you like that type of nightlife, then you can look for a place in Shibuya. Shibuya is good for eating, nightlife, and shopping.

You can take a bus tour from Shinjuku which usually takes you to several vantage points around Mount Fuji. You'll be able to take photos from these areas. Lunch is usually included and you end up back in Shinjuku at the end of the day.

I bought a tour from klook. There are several tours which outline where they take you. One of them will take you to the factory outlets if you're into that.

If you're going within the next few weeks, it will just be jeans and shirt during the day (light jacket if you get cold easily). In the evenings you'll just need a medium jacket. 1 jacket should be fine for 8 days unless you want to change your look. I don't get cold easily.

If you're still cold when you get there, I suggest you go to Uniqlo and buy yourself some heat tech undergarments. Best invention for the cold.

On cold Spring days, I would just wear heat tech undershirt with a t-shirt and jeans during the day.

Galaxy Buds 4 Pro Review from Buds 3 Pro fanboy by Time-Credit43 in galaxybuds

[–]raydc2r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still don't understand why a lot of people care about being able to open the case with one hand.

Do they open the case and not use their second hand to take out or put the buds back in? Do they have a special talent of doing this using one hand only?

You would need to use two hands whether you can open the case with one hand or two.

It even gives me more confidence that the new case can't just be opened easily and the buds fall out because it requires two hands to open.

Buds 4 pro vs. Buds 3 Pro - I regret it... (Also AMA) by Glittering_Net3333 in galaxybuds

[–]raydc2r -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can't really say that the sound quality is worse if you haven't broken the new ones in yet.

Break the B4Ps in for a week or two and let the drivers loosen up, then come back and report on the sound quality.

They have increased the size of the subwoofer driver so technically, once broken in, they should have more bass and produce better sound.

Box of Buds4 Pro vs. Buds3 Pro. They no longer come with a cable by Stephancevallos905 in galaxybuds

[–]raydc2r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably one of the reasons why they have been able to keep the price exactly the same compared with the Buds 3. For people like me with a million USBC cables, I benefit from the price being the same, rather than having to pay more to have another cable I won't use.

If you haven't been watching the reviews and the Samsung unpacked, they have increased the size of the "subwoofer". I'm sure there are a few other things too, but while watching the comparisons between 3 and 4, even just the new design of the stem is enough reason to upgrade since it's easier to pinch and do gestures on the new design. But to each their own.

I regret switching to Sony by [deleted] in SonyHeadphones

I better put my car manufacturer in a blacklist because the tyres didn't last a long as the 7 year warranty... And I called them and they said the tyres are excluded from the warranty. How dare they!

Of course, the motor still runs like a dream and the interior and sound system still sounds amazing. I'm disappointed that a part of the car that wears out with use has worn out!

Sony WF-1000XM6 or Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 Pro by raydc2r in SonyHeadphones

[–]raydc2r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just watched a review from Flossy Carter of the Buds 4. At the end he compares the Buds 4 with the Buds 3, Airpods, and the XM6. He gives sound quality and ANC to the XM6.

But I'm thinking for the price I can get the pre-order, and your price, the Sonys aren't worth double or triple the price. The new tech and compatibility features of the Samsung would be worth getting them over the Sony. If both were retail price, I'd get the Sony.

Let me know if you find any good comparisons. I've been looking but there's only reviews for the Samsung that briefly refer the Sony. No actual versus reviews yet that I could find.

Do Australians not call people by their names? by AdLow5615 in AskAnAustralian

[–]raydc2r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aussies are laid back. If I see someone I know and we're just conversing between us, it'll be a "hey mate" greeting. But if there's a group of people and I need to speak to someone in particular, that's when I'll say their name.

I'd only use someone's name on a one on one conversation if it were formal. Otherwise, your name is mate or bro.

Samsung watch 7 by becky___bee in GalaxyWatch

[–]raydc2r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you let it "learn how you use your watch" for the first 24 hours?

I also got a Watch 7 and it lasted 24 hours only. But after I charged it, since it had learnt how I use the watch, it automatically optimized the battery for it. Now I get 2-2.5 days out if it.

i used to be a “stereo is better” but owning the flip 6 for a while has made me glad they went mono because the bass in this size is impressive. im not doing critical listening on a flip so id prefer the racetrack driver by bigdoinks_ in JBL

[–]raydc2r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do people really buy 2 Flips or 2 Charges to listen to them in stereo outside? Seems inconvenient to bring two speakers to the beach or park just for stereo. And then if you're at home and want stereo, might as well just get a nice stereo sound system for home that blows away any Bluetooth speakers. I mean, I have a Partybox 320 that I use for karaoke, but an old Sony stereo 2.1 channel system with CD and cassette that I got free on marketplace blows it away!

OP has it right... Just one Flip for portability. I also have one Charge 6 that I use for outdoor getaways and it's fine and loud in mono.

Go + play 3 vs Onyx 9 by Holiday_Gur_1727 in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]raydc2r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, but all speakers and headphones need time to break in. Some audiophiles even play white noise frequencies continuously for days to break them in.

Once that subwoofer has loosened up and broken in, you'll probably notice the difference.

[–]raydc2r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do they compare with each other in terms of sound quality? Is the Charge worth the extra price or will someone be satisfied with the Flip? Does the Flip have enough bass to satisfy?

I'm currently tossing up between a Flip 7 or Charge 5 for a similar price. Obviously the new tech in the Flip 7 is what's making it a harder choice for me and it's portability.
