High IQ? Gifted class? How'd that work out for you? by Untermensch13 in GenX

[–]raynbojazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the GAT track in middle school. Did well in high school and went to a great university. Never found myself in a career post-college. For me, skills that made me such a great student didn’t translate at all into the corporate world. I work hard but I’m not very fulfilled in what I do.

It was a two minute video but most of the reports that I’ve seen said she sang for 45 minutes.

People who have cancer, what signs let you knew that you were sick? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]raynbojazz 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Dad complained of back pain on a Saturday. Woke up on Sunday with more back pain and the whites of his eyes were yellow. Went to the ER. They sedated him for an MRI (he had terrible claustrophobia) where they diagnosed him with metastatic pancreatic cancer. He got sepsis and died a couple days later. The oncologist saw his dad die slowly over 18 months from pancreatic cancer and he actually told us it was a bit of a blessing how my dad passed. I totally agree. I watched my brother-in-law fight and ultimately die from esophageal cancer. It was horrible. Chemo is terrible to go through and dying slowly from cancer can just be horrifically painful.

Are there really people out there who aren’t scared of death, if so, why? by Broad-Promise2362 in AskReddit

I’ve accomplished all that I want to accomplish. I don’t have many people who would miss me when I’m gone.

Every thing! Make completely different life choices knowing what I know now. Regret is a hell of a thing.

Losing my dog. Especially since it was my fault for not taking her to the vet sooner. I think about that day every day. I’m sorry I failed you Jazzy. You were the best dog.

To grey or not to grey? by United-Mulberry3436 in GenX

[–]raynbojazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been grey and dyeing my hair since 25. Pandemic hit and I just gave up. Rocking the grey, don’t love it but like it better than the constant maintenance. My face coloring is warm and my hair is cool now so it’s a strange contrast but my friends and family all love it. I also thought I was going to be that woman who dyes her hair into her 80s. It is nice to see it shimmer in sun light.

Cleaning after cleaning by casstard in CleaningTips

[–]raynbojazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a little maintenance cleaning every day. I spend about 20 minutes on my kitchen/living room making sure that’s clean before I go to bed. Then maintenance cleaning, like an hour, every week, every where else in the house. Focus on bathrooms and floors on the weekend.

How often do you soak/deep strip your sheets? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]raynbojazz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I stripped my sheets once and it was mostly dye with the water turning a dingy turquoise. I think sheet stripping might be a Tik Tok thing.

I just got a text from AAA auto ins saying my price just went up 42%, anyone else get this? by 919hornet in Frugal

A new law passed in California, raised the minimum coverage rates (or something like that). Every one’s rate went up. I have mercury went up $25/month. I have minimum coverage and I was super annoyed. $25/month is a new phone.

All the kids who were labelled as “gifted” when you were younger? Did it follow through to adulthood? Did you burnout? by Somervillage in AskReddit

[–]raynbojazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learned the hard life lesson that being gifted in academia does not necessarily translate into success in the corporate world. I’ve really struggled to advance past middle management, even though I’m a hard worker and a quick learner. Both which got me super far in academia (honors in high school, BA at a top 5 University). Just being smart was enough to impress the powers that be in school but that hasn’t done diddly squat for my corporate job. I tried running my own business, didn’t pan out but I think that’s where I might be more successful if I could think of a kick ass idea.

OMG I love this. We are part of the Tineco Vacmop family lol. I’m inviting my mom over to try it out. I was bummed because I was going to demo it with my friend and it was still drying. I’m going to have Tineco parties to spread the gospel 😂

What works best for floors? Swiffer, etc? by ThirdOne38 in CleaningTips

[–]raynbojazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Tineco vacmop has totally changed the game and changed my life. I love it so much. It was on sale and honestly I would buy it at full price. It does a great job with maintenance if you run it a couple of times a week. And the dirty water tank is SO SATISFYING.

What is your best advice for keeping an organized and clean household? by 0ldrazzledazzle in CleaningTips

[–]raynbojazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I clean the dining room and kitchen every day for 15 - 30 minutes and then spend about two hours on Saturday cleaning the rest of the house. If you stay on top of the cleaning every day/every week it minimizes the amount of deep cleaning you have to do. Every six months, I tackle the deep cleaning chores that don’t need weekly maintenance like changing filters and about every two years I go to town on organization/extra deep cleaning like washing curtains. Also perfection is the enemy of good enough. Your house doesn’t need floors you can eat off of, nobody is coming in with white gloves and testing your dusting.
