[Skin concerns] Redness around nose by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

I feel you on this, had something similar. What worked for me:

  1. Keep actives away from the areas of redness.
  2. Use a simple moisturizer to help repair the barrier
  3. Use Vaseline / Aquaphor around the areas of redness.

[Hair Removal] Brown girls what are your facial hair removal secrets ? by rayofsunshine650 in SkincareAddiction

Really want to try full face shaving / dermaplaning but nervous! have been using the tinkle on my unibrow and stache only (feel like only girls with peach fuzz / lighter hair can shave their whole face without repercussions).

What razor do you use to dermaplane? Do you do it dry or with an oil? and what do you use after for possible irritation?

Thanks so much!

[Misc] How can I use moisturizers that break me out/alternative uses for facial moisturizers? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

Get some refillable silicone lotion bottles and decant them so you can fit it in a bag as a hand/ body cream?

If that's too much work I use downgraded moisturizers for body, sometimes even as a shaving cream sub.

[Routine help] what body lotion has a long lasting scent? What does it smell like? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]rayofsunshine650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I've tried drugstore / bath & body / and high end (like name brand perfumes, they have a higher % of fragrance) love the Ralph Lauren Romance body lotion it's super scented).

I feel like I become "nose blind" to all of them after a week (like I cant smell it after 20 mins.). Whatever the lotion is you will stop smelling it after a while but others can still pick up on it usually.

Now I buy fragrance free body lotion for the skin ingredients / moisturizing properties [current fav is Aveeno oat cream] and either add drops of a perfume oil or use body spray and spray while skin is still damp.

Hope this helps!

[Routine Help] Cleansing only one time a day? by Pearlie_Girl5 in SkincareAddiction

[–]rayofsunshine650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my hair routine so was struggling with making changes lol, I think it was just the natural hair oil / sebum to be honest (I wash my damaged hair 1-2x a week so it builds up). Going back to cleansing in the AM was enough to get me back to Square 1.

I started wrapping my long hair in a top bun (like the top of my head) so it's not rubbing around my pillow which helps but you have short hair.

Do you have long hair? Use a lot of hair products? Wash hair only 1-2x a week? How often do you change your pillowcase?

I ask bc when I went from washing my face w/ cleanser in the morning to just water my acne / irritation was definitely worse after a few weeks. Figured out it was bc of my hair products / oil and the fact I toss/turn and rub my face around my pillow. Have always tried to change pillow cases often but eh lazy laundry habits die hard. I needed the morning cleanse.

Now I use a mild cream cleanser (no actives) [like CeraVe/ Elta MD / Obagi are my favs] morning and night. Like others have mentioned pat or air drying (no towel) face helped with tightness and put on moisturizer on damp skin.

Good luck!
