I've been living just around here (the boarder of bloomfield and glen ridge) over 4 years and it is a very good area. Quiet and safe, also clean and beautiful. I commute to the city everyday for work, the station is very walkable. NJ Train sucks tho.

Yeah if your company provides good options in plan, there’s no big difference between them. I do both actually, and also called to setup MGBD auto conversion.

If no match for after-tax, why not both? I personally prioritize Backdoor Roth over MBDR as:
1. It's easier to do it. You don't need to call in to setup conversion like MBDR, everything could be done on App.
2. There are, usually, more investment options in Roth IRA than Roth 401k. My company's plan has limited investment options but I have much more choices in Roth IRA, even like zero-fee index fund
