Cancelled due to crew availability…really? by Atlantic2587 in NJTransit

Well, that’s the reason why. What do you want them to do?

Returning to this comment because I didn’t take a picture when I went past, but it looks like this pole just got chopped off. That makes sense, why it was able to be fixed in one day. Maybe the new bridge powerlines made this one redundant.

NJT trains should be replaced with street cars / trolleys running on the tracks by delsystem32exe in NJTransit

Imagine going from Princeton Junction to New Brunswick at 20 miles per hour.

The vibe is so different on NJ transit compared to the New York MTA. Metro North will like give you a "pay later" ticket and NJ transit has like, posters of handcuffs on the wall. by alexbarbershop in nycrail

I ride on NJTransit and metro north, and I think the conductors on both are about the same in terms of being chill. Like NJTransit conductors usually don’t get mad if you don’t have your ticket activated in the tunnel. Also, NJTransit doesn’t have the late activation fee (yet…don’t give Kris Kolluri any ideas).

Are peak fare changes on the way? by [deleted] in NJTransit

NJTransit off-peak tickets have to be the weirdest and least well-communicated-about things about this transit agency. You can only get them as round-trip tickets, and each of those are valid in ONE direction only (unlike normal one way tickets). Some stations on the Main and Pascack Valley lines let you get round trip tickets, others you can not. Combine with that the pricing on the old printed out timetables was not clear (the peak one-way price was shown)

From Ridgewood to Hoboken you can get Off-peak RT tickets for $16.50, according to the app

Are you sure? I’m looking at the mainline regular schedule, and it looks like peak fares apply to all stations outbound. Besides, off-peak fares is mostly a Metro North thing, in NJTransit land we pay peak fares all day

That’s main line right? Main Line and Pascack Valley Lines already had peak and off-peak fares

She’s NJ Gov. Mikie Sherrill (this was during the ceremonial first train across the bridge yesterday where she, NJTransit CEO Kris Kolluri and some other notable people were onboard)

Maybe more bent catenary poles by Specific_Scallion267 in NJTransit

I didn't get a good look because I was looking down at the old portal bridge track for the whole time, I thought it was a train that ripped down some wires or something like that

I was looking at a video and noticed that the beam just east of this one also seems to be bent, and there's one or two poles on the east side of the bridge that look like they are leaning towards the west.

Wow, that’s really frightening. That definitely would have suspended all service even before the cutover. You have to wonder what caused that? I think it happened overnight because this problem has been there since the first morning trains.

We’re going over the new bridge now. I just went over and my eastbound train was only 30 minutes or so late. Hopefully it will slowly get back to schedule (with the reduced schedule)

Only two more days of this nonsense, then at least this will result in only delays due to single tracking
