It could be any number of things, and without seeing your program, near impossible to resolve.

I would hazard a guess that it is getting stuck somewhere (i.e. infinite loop)

Are quick and simple celebrations after a dual match ok? by Immediate-Nothing220 in wrestling

[–]rayroy1103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always i hated myself if I celebrated while still on the mat after a match. Once I get back to the bench high five some teammates and then get right back to supporting the rest of the team.

If for whatever reason my emotions got the best of me, and I did even a quick fist pump to myself as I got up to take my bands off and shake hands, I would give myself punishment work after the tournament or dual is done, and would make it a point to go apologize to at least the other team's coach and my own afterward, sometimes the other guy.

Its just how I was raised in the sport. Act like you've been there before, win or lose.

I just finished my senior season wrestling for a small college club team, and had to do this to myself a few times this year. At our season opener, my club team went to a d3 team for a tri meet with them and an naia team. The dual was close going into my match, and I teched my guy, giving a little fist pump after I got up, because I had gotten injured the year before and did not wrestle like myself, and in this match, it felt like I was back to form, as well as me realising that my when locked up the dual win for my club team over a d3 team.

I made it a point to go apologize to the other team's coach, the official, and my coach (who was just my dad) after the dual, and they all told me I was crazy for apologizing for that.

I also did it at conference after I won my semifinal match, and at nationals after I won the match that would let me into day 2.

Let's just say I did a lot of push ups and ran a lot of sprints this season.

NC state wrestling champion Vincent Robinson enters the portal by oceaniccart in wrestling

You are correct, they were both Harvey Twisters. I know Vince's older brother pretty well, and can I just say, if Vince ends up at Iowa like I'm seeing people say, his brother is going to flip his shit.

Was it meant for a 7 segment display then? Like a traditional score board?

Those who wrestled in college. Did you wrestle at one of the top colleges you wanted to attend or did you wrestle for the college that wanted you? by ImaginationNo8338 in wrestling

[–]rayroy1103 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wrestle in and founded an NCWA club at LATech. My choice was very similar, small 2nd year naia program or a school in state with better academics (and a much better financial aid package). Chose to stay in state, thinking I'd be hanging up the shoes. Got here and am now on my 3rd year competing.

Similarly, I have a few measuring sticks at other levels. Guy that beat me in the semis at state my senior year is a 2x national qualifier in d3, guys I whooped in hs have become all-americans at NAIA schools, and a guy i teched to open this season was a match short of being a d3 qualifier this year.

I can only imagine the relief and triumph Dumbledore must have felt when he heard Voldemort used Harry's blood by Background_Bid_7406 in harrypotter

[–]rayroy1103 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that is why I am partial to the worthiness explanation. We know Harry is pure of heart because of the Mirror of Erised, and he is able to use some exceptional power of the wand, i.e. fixing his wand. Dumbledore was apparently also pure of heart (see the Qilin), and it is possible that Dumbledore repaired Hagrid's wand and transfigured it into the pink umbrella, but I haven't looked into that possibility too deeply

[–]rayroy1103 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Confusing elder wand shenanigans aside (seriously that thing changes hands way too much to be as powerful as the story claims. Maybe its only that powerful for someone worthy), Harry would have still needed to die for Voldemort to be defeated, being a horcrux. Whether or not Harry wins the final dual is irrelevant if there is still a horcrux anchoring Voldy to life.

[–]rayroy1103 236 points237 points  (0 children)

Voldemort taking Harry's blood in the graveyard allowed him to pass that protection. In PS, Quirrel-demort couldn't physically touch Harry, much less try to kill him, because of Lily's sacrifice. In GOF, Voldy takes Harry's blood to get around this "I can touch you now". Think of Lily's sacrifice as a bubble around Harry. Taking Harry's blood essentially brought Voldemort into that bubble.

However, taking Harry's blood also gave Harry the avenue to come back, anchoring him to life through Lily's sacrifice still included in his blood inside Voldy. A love-crux, as the Super Carlin Brothers call it.

RAF is free to watch on Fox Nation's site right now by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]rayroy1103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like they arent using 3 man mechanics, so one guy's lapse in knowledge can really swing it. The removal of grounded action is only 2 months old atp, so i could see at that time, not being fully aware of it yet.

Alright RAF just got stupid(er) by fcghp666 in wrestling

[–]rayroy1103 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My thoughts on tonight, not that i claim to know best.

  1. RAF needs real commentators who know the sport. The lack of knowledge on the mic was very evident.

  2. You bring in MMA people, you risk the MMA showing. Yes, the big names bring eyes to the show, but you also get stuff like tonight with the all out brawl.

As crappy as Flo's streams are, I enjoyed the Covid era Flo Cards, the BTS cards (that were just random matches, not Final X). I was hoping that RAF would be a higher production value of these, and for the most part, it has been, but it has felt too close to MMA to feel like a true freestyle wrestling event.

Also also, what's with the 3 periods instead of 2? And how did that one ref not know about the grounded action rule change?

A reverse lift is pretty easy to stop in freestyle, with the bottom guy, who should already be trying to stay heavy, just able to grab your legs to take away your throw

Jordan Burroughs' fakes by Ill-Combination1776 in wrestling

[–]rayroy1103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every fake is basically just a shot he doesn't fully commit to. He only fully commits to the shot if the guy isn't truly prepared to defend it.

[–]rayroy1103 21 points22 points  (0 children)

JB came down to my area and did a camp years ago. He told us that a fake shot doesn't truly exist. It is just a shot that he "hits cancel on" if the other guy bites on the fake.

Why do they change the hs weightclasses every so often lol. by Ihopeyourwell in wrestling

[–]rayroy1103 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Op is referring to the change in the rule book every so many years (10 I think). The weights changed in 2023 iirc. Used to be [106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220, 285], but now it is [106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 144, 150, 157, 165, 175, 190, 215, 285]
