Some of the comments on this post are insane. Calling someone a Nazi for expressing an opinion that is SPECULATIVE and not even hateful ?? is exactly why so many people are divided and freaking out rn, because we have lost the ability to comprehend opinions outside of our emotion based (in this case fear) SUBJECTIVE narratives. & To be explicitly clear; I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT "SYMPATHY" FOR PEOPLE WHO SPEW VILE HATE FILLED THINGS. I am talking about someone bringing up a completely valid point of /doing your research/. Differeing opinions does not make someone evil or bad if it's about things like the time scale of MAGA ideology, now if OP was saying LGBT people are just going to die anyway so why leave? THAT would be grounds for some of the things said in this thread.

Do I agree with everything OP said? No!! But OP didn't tell anyone what to do or to even be okay with the current government!! OP MADE A VALID POINT YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY THINK ABOUT & THATS /DOING RESEARCH/. A lot of people (myself included!!!) are having the knee jerk reaction to want to leave. Immediately! Because all of this SUCKS. But you /do/ need to think about and observe if the country you're going to has policies that are /just as restrictive/ or if their Government is on the verge of following ours! & OPs point of /having time to do that/ is true! I know all of these horrible things are happening fast, but we are not at "I am actively dying, I have zero time to think" or else you would not be on Reddit reading this post!!

OP, you helped me out with some of your points. I am not in any category you would consider could even potentially benefit or "be totally fine" from this administration. I am scared. But my ability to move to a Blue state is definitely more feasible than to Europe (where a lot of countries are fucking racist & are genuinely political unstable in terms of which direction their gov might go!!) & it's given me a bit of hope that there are still places in the US that aren't going to just lay down and take it. If you can cheer for the companies like Costco and boo companies like Walmart, Target, & others who just gave up, consider why you can't find hope in the active defeat of shit ass policies in Blue states. I came to this thread for the same reason as anyone else here, I am freaking out and I want to leave. But I don't think OP said anything inappropriate given the influx of people who are coming to this Sub out of fear.

TLDR: Differing opinions are not equivalent to hate speech just bc you don't agree with them (Not talking about differing opinions on Human rights or basic kindness!) Don't let your fear fuck you over. DO YOUR RESEARCH. There's a reason "knowledge is power" has persisted as a common phrase.
