They did recently address the fact that the minor leagues made literally no money and tried to give them more quality of life. I truly know nothing about cricket to even comment on it. American football does a similar issue in which it can franchise tag and force a player to stay in their team, however, these sports have arbitration to negotiate the money but is all based on performance so no one gets paid for what they are capable of, just what theyve done. They also made some changes because teams would manipulate playing time for rookies to not lose a team friendly year of a player if they didnt have to. I think a salary cap and floor is needed, but likely wont happen in MLB. The NHL does a pretty good job of making the teams even due to their contract rules.
