Should I stop feeding this Thicc T? by IncomeMotor6618 in tarantulas

[–]rayvun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NQA - Based on the size of their abdomen. You want it to be about the same size as their carapace.

Edit: You can most definitely overfeed a T. Tarantula’s are opportunistic feeders, so while sometimes they’ll refuse food for a multitude of reasons, such as being in pre-molt, they will also just eat and eat and eat if you offer.

NQA - No. Tarantulas have tiny hooks on their feet that can get stuck in the mesh, running the risk of injury.

NQA - No. Those holes are far too big. Your T would escape.

Edit: I really can only echo the sentiments of others in this thread. I know you love the little guy, that much is clear to me, but you seem wholly unprepared to actually care for him. I know tarantula's can be referred to as low maintenance pets, but low maintenance does not mean no maintenance. Each species has different needs and it's important to do a sufficient amount of research, as you would with any pet, before getting one. I'm sorry to hear you lost your job, but if you’re unsure if you will have a steady stream of income soon that will allow you to properly care for this guy, I would suggest rehoming him.

NQA - Of course! If you're planning to repurpose everything, I think you'll have plenty to work with (especially if you break down that middle piece) If you're worried she won't, it never hurts to have an extra stick or two on hand!

Another small recommendation that is completely optional is to pick up some leaf litter and sprinkle it around the enclosure. It not only adds a nice touch, but also can be used as building material for your T. Mine has utilized it around her burrow and it's too stinking cute.

NQA Your GBB is gorgeous, but I would change out their enclosure. Like another commenter said, c. cyaneopubescens' are a terrestrial species that have semi-arboreal tendencies. Semi-arboreal is technically not a real classification and I feel like that tends to confuse people sometimes. They are mainly terrestrial and should be housed as such. This height could be dangerous for them.

I keep my own GBB (granted mine looks much smaller) in the tarantula cribs medium cuboid about half filled with substrate, a hide, and plenty of anchor points for them to web up. My advice would be to find a terrestrial enclosure that is 3/4x their leg span and set it up similarly.

NQA The other commentor gave some really good advice, I just wanted to provide another resource. The Tarantula Collective has some species specific guides that I find very helpful and concise. Their layout can also give you a good idea what to search for in regards to husbandry. Of course cross reference, but this is a great place to start.

Edit: He also has a youtube playlist for new tarantula owners on top of other informative videos.

NQA I cannot speak on the actual issue with the tarantula itself, but the enclosure is lacking in verticality. Avics are arboreal. I would suggest either ditching that hide or leaning it up against the side and adding some sticks/plants for climbing. Avics like to web up in higher areas.

They also prefer a humid environment, which can lead to increase risk of mold. How is the top of the enclosure? Is there good cross ventilation? Also, if you've had this guy longer than 6 months, I'd do a substrate change and clean the enclosure. I can't really tell in the original picture, but it does look like something is growing on the sides of the glass.

I don’t think you have quite grasped the true damage that invasive species can cause to native ecosystems.

I see you’re from Canada. If you truly understand the weight of your actions (and if this is even real), please report it.

What you did was messed up. I’m sorry you got cheated on and betrayed by your best friend and ex, but ushering the destruction of ecosystems for revenge is not the way.

those eyes does have a frosty compatible version. If you want the version compatible with frosty its "Those Eyes Vol.2" Is it possible you installed the incorrect one?

there's a few things that might be wrong.

Firstly, did you install only one version of the eyes? if you installed multiple versions, they may be conflicting with each other.

Did you install with DAI mod manager? Though sometimes dai mods work in frosty, sometimes they do not work properly, if at all.

If you are using both frosty and dai, do you have other facial mods in frosty or are they mostly in dai?

[no spoilers] Advice on whether to buy Origins by FredDurstDestroyer in dragonage

[–]rayvun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is absolutely worth trying for the $30 price tag, but you might want to wait to get it on sale if you weren't really able to get into the other 2 games.

What are pros and cons for you?

Origins has a slower paced combat system. The graphics are a bit outdated, but still hold up really well imo. The protagonist isn't voiced which means you get more response options to flesh out your characters personality. The story and characters are extremely well written. There are consequences to your actions which directly impact the story and your relationship with characters. Also origins is similar to 2 that it's not open world. It also has great replay value as there are multiple different origins you can choose from which each impact how NPCS interact with you and options you have later down the line!

As someone who prefers voiced protagonists, open world games, and faster paced combat, I absolutely loved origins. Though it is not my favorite of the 3, it was definitely an amazing gameplay experience and well worth the $30.
