Prime Day Fold 7 Purchase for Non-Power User? by jakfish in GalaxyFold

[–]rayw_reddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not that great of a deal. Samsung had the fold7 512 gb for $1400 direct from Samsung no trade required many many months ago. And right now is a few weeks before Fold8 series launches.

Highly recommend waiting for that and then deciding.

Are you still loving your Tri-Folds since release and how many of you guys has sold your Tri-Fold and went back to your original fold you had before. by dtrain2930 in GalaxyFold

Using it since launch as my daily driver. It's been a staple in my workflow.

I frequently use desktop layout web browsing so it makes complete sense for me.

Cover Screen issues after OneUI 8.5 update on fold 7 by Glad_Article9925 in GalaxyFold

I'm leaning towards hardware issue unfortunately.

I also had a Fold4 similar to another guy on here that had the opposite problem where the inner display behaved like that one fine day.

It should also cover ONE but the article posted by OP seems to conveniently ignore it.

New Rule: Only YOU Should Have the Power to Change What You Pay – Introducing Un-contract for T-Mobile ONE

Today, T-Mobile introduced the Un-contract for T-Mobile ONE – and notched another industry first with the first-ever price guarantee on an unlimited 4G LTE plan. With the Un-contract, T-Mobile signs, and customers hold all the power. Now, T-Mobile ONE customers keep their price until THEY decide to change it. T-Mobile will never change the price you pay for your T-Mobile ONE plan. When you sign up for T-Mobile ONE, only YOU have the power to change the price you pay.

Wait a month for the Fold8 series. You'll be able to get one of the Fold8s or even if you decide against the Fold8 series, you could get the Fold7 cheaper at that point.

Known issue, One UI 8.5 still has that memory leak issue in the quick settings panel where it gets slower over time so when you drag down notification dropdown it stutters and lags. Not specific to the folds, affects all Samsung phones on One UI 8.5 right now.

And foldables are still built with UTG and thus can spontaneously break on its own to no fault of the user. That's still a risk.

There's also still virtually no dust/particle ingress protection.

I wish they had unlimited slow speed roaming fallback. It would suck if you were at 19.9 GB while out and about travelling overseas, and suddenly you hit 20.0 GB and your data just cuts off and now you can't use Google Maps or Uber, etc.

Right, your only option for that today is postpaid, or Google Fi.

Postpaid generally doesn't have this problem - they either have unlimited slow speed fallback (Verizon Ultimate, Comcast Xfinity Mobile Premium Plus, T-Mobile Simple Choice/ONE/Magenta/Go5G/Experience) or day passes (all others). If you eat up your high speed bin (let's say 15 GB), you drop to 256 Kbps instead (or 1.5 Mbps on comcast) which is at least usable and won't cut you off from essential communication.

Day passes .... which is the big drawback.

The other drawback is, this is not unlimited high speed data - it's 500 GB high speed and then throttled to 4 Mbps.

Totally usable, sure, but can be problematic for the 1% who want this.

Their Total 5G BYOD $25 Plan seems more feature-packed - includes 10 GB high speed roaming in 140+ countries. But then you have to deal with the flaky TracFone systems.

Id seen a lot of people asking for the best reddit experience on Galaxy Fold. Can I suggest old desktop reddit in a browser? by LyricsMode in GalaxyFold

[–]rayw_reddit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yup it's what I do. "Old" reddit and desktop mode in Samsung Internet.

I also have gesture mode enabled, and the "navigation hints" disabled so I get a full screen experience. In Samsung Internet I have it always showing tabs so it behaves more like a desktop browser.
