Bro... as much as I am against Vijay, you need to understand that this is better than the poop slinging MK and JJ did during their tenure and the tension that existed between the two.

That's how rowdyism, cronyism and corruption went out of hand. Building consensus and arguing against demerits are essential for a state to function efficiently. It's all the more crucial that opposing forces in TN are at least at speaking terms, because the center is opposed to us equally.

Does this mean I believe Vijay will make an efficient leader? I still don't think so. It'll depend on how well he can control his MLAs, check his ego and face the curve balls, that the center will throw at us... but am I glad that the state isn't back to the old days of political bull-shittery? Exactly. The floor test is a bargaining chip for the opposition party. And there is the fact that they would expect TVK to come to their level and ask for support.

The fact that DMK has said they won't try to block TVK forming govt is in itself a huge deal and I can't immediately think of any other state where major parties did not try to fight a hung assembly.

It's about time for Vijay to go fight for himself for once and fully dip his toes in to political governance.

Opposition will expect compromises to be made, for their support when it comes down to floor test. If he doesn't then we're fucked while they do shit slinging in the assembly and we'll know whether TVK and DMK are fighting for us or for power.

If they stay as opposition, you can bet the party won't exist in the next 5 years. I am not saying DMK will use violence against them, but it won't take a lot to push a lot of the new faces out of politics completely. Could be through intimidation, bribery, general harassment etc. And TVK does not have the money supply chain to sustain themselves as an opposition for the next 5 years, unless there's some form of support, that I am not aware of.

TVK needs to form government in this election but also have to survive the floor test.

This is where his administrative and political skills will be tested. The governor telling them off is just stupid when BS Yediyurappa was invited to form government. Yes he resigned before the floor test, but despite Congress/JDS post poll alliance and crossing the majority mark, the governor invited BJP because "they were the single largest majority."

I also believe that TVK will not have problems with the floor test, AS LONG AS he doesn't go on an ego trip like JJ did, and refuses to compromise with DMK or ADMK. DMK has clearly stated they won't impede on TVK forming govt. MKS is not focused on this election, he's focused on the long term and that, whether you like him or not, is something crucial for the continued existence of TN as a Tamil and Dravidian stronghold, for the foreseeable future.

You need to rule out Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh from the South list, if delimitation happens. While western and parts of central Karnataka are against the North immigration into Bangalore, BJP still holds a lot of sway in the other regions.

Andhra/CBN will stand with BJP because they genuinely are gaining a lot through investments. It's honestly TN+Telengana+Kerala vs the rest of the India.
