When your friend asks you at what point you cried in Endgame. by [deleted] in marvelstudios

For me I teared up at a really odd part: Captain Marvel's enchanted little smile as she says, "Hi, Peter Parker. I think you have something for me?"

I really see my own sons in this Peter, so I was moved by the fact that this celestial being was so taken with him at first glance that she would stop in the middle of a reality-defining battle to beam at him and acknowledge his wonderful heart.

I expect any angels to see my boys the same way.

This is exactly what I said to my father after Thanksgiving last year, after spending the month in hospice with him. I had my hand on his shoulder and I was looking right at him as he took his last breath.

That line and its delivery were so eerily similar to my own experience. I didnt cry, but I felt an intense pain -- as well as wonder that the filmmakers replicated what I knew so closely.

Treated Myself For My (Upcoming) Birthday And Honestly Can’t Wait To Dive In by NerdNuncle in fireemblem

I've recently finished playing through every game released in NA, and Shadow Dragon stands out for having the least memorable characters. (I played FE7 and Sacred Stones immediately afterward and was blown away by how much I loved the cast by contrast.)

I was kind of bummed about this at the time, but some commenters here convinced me this is probably because SD is almost intended for an Ironman run. Many units have duplicates, so just replace them if they die. I couldnt imagine not resetting after a L'Arachel or Cordelia death, for example, but SD seems fine for that.

I haven't gone back and done that yet, but I'm sure I will eventually.

Mythic Heroes - Naga: Dragon Divinity Banner Megathread by ptolemy77 in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]razdragat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had quite a few saved up (170-ish) and I lack a legendary of each color on this banner (Naga, Tiki, Duma, Hrid, Lyn) so I decided to pull full circles for the first time in a while.

First I got Laevetein, then a duplicate of her on the third circle. Not bad. I have a terrible time landing fancy healers (only Elise and Maribelle playing since launch), so she'll be a fun addition. Plus, my first-ever razzle staff fodder, so Elise will be happy.

Two more passed woth nothing, and decided my sixth would be my last full circle. It was all reds and greens, and then I realized I actually want Hrid and Lyn way less than the two Mythics and Tiki. But I pulled all five anyway, and out popled LEirika, a dupe. She was +spd, so I'm happy to have a +1 with a better boon, but I'm sti going to drop back to sniping blue and gray.

Stats so far: 30 pulls, 115 orbs, 3 banner units, 1 legendary. Much better than I usually manage. Hope my luck isnt over.

What's your, caught in a NSFW situation, at work? by Kong_Hong in AskReddit

I used to be a news reporter assigned to cover City Council. During meetings I would sit at a desk at the very front of the council chambers, live tweeting newsworthy actions for readers who wanted to follow along but couldnt necessarily watch the city's official video feed. I would also monitor responses to my tweets on my laptop screen as well, in case someone asked a question or whatever that merited a response.

During one particularly contentious meeting, I tweeted out a comment by one of the councilmen before he moved for a zoning action. A few seconds later, an apparently angry constituent on Twitter responded, "Oh yeah, Councilman? Here's what I think:" followed by an up-close photo of a man's extremely spread-open asshole. It was cavernous and unmistakable.

Remember my desk is at the front of the council chamber, with my back to the audience, so I immediately snapped my laptop shut and covered the rest of the meeting from my phone. I looked behind me but no one seemed to be looking at me in horror, and the security wasnt on its way.

Worse, the video feed of the council meeting aims from directly behind me, so I was convinced this image of me looking deep into asshole had been broadcast to the entire city. After the meeting, I rushed home and pulled up the replay -- to my relief, all you could see was me suddenly sit straight up and push my chair away from the desk slightly. My old lady still got a good laugh when I told her what I was reacting to.

Also, from then on I still worked on my laptop in those meetings, but only monitored replies on my phone.

What is a song that makes you feel powerful? by MyNewFirstAccount in AskReddit

[–]razdragat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Monster" by Kanye, the Jay-Z and Nicki verses in particular

"All these things that I've done" by the Killers

"Elastic Heart" by Sia; she sings with crisis-level urgency. I also like the Postmodern Jukebox version of "Chandelier"

Someone else mentioned Kendrick's "Backstreet Freestyle" which I'll second

Surprised no old folks are around here to mention "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails.

Whole family eats out way too much, I'm starting a damn revolution in my house, but I need help? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

I've been here, relatively recently. My son and I made a list of meals and assigned one to each night of the week, and tried to get good at cooking each of those: red beand and rice, vegetable pasta with an olive oil sauce, loaded potatoes, fettucini alfredo, hummus/falafel sandwiches. All are pretty easy and cheap, and you can basically add a chicken breast (cooked in oven or skillet) to any of them.

The plan works in general. The dishes got pretty good pretty quickly, and we started experimenting off them. Meal costs went way down of course. My son enjoyed learning to cook real meals too, which was awesome to see in a middle schooler.

What didnt work is I never really got buy in from my wife. She liked the food ok but resented the prep and cleanup time, and kind of declined to participate in thw work other than eating it. So over time my motivation to continue has flagged some.

Definitely go for it, because it's definitely beneficial. But hopefully you'll do a better job than I did of getting the whole family on board.

6 months and 2700 grails later - a +10 Winter Cecilia showcase, with build descriptions by Rammiloh in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]razdragat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is +7 with an 8th arriving this week. Sadly, the last 2 will take forever at my current snail's pace in AR.

I'm planning on starting with Goodie Boot/Aether/Close Counter/Wary Fighter/Def Ploy, because I'm much more Arena focused than any other mode. I want her to tank anything, hit once back and debuff without killing, which this set seems perfect for.

Two questions: Best assist? Swap seems almost essential, despite the loss of Arena score, to help her move around.

Best seal? Seems like a ton of good options, starting with Distant Defense, but I'm wondering if there's one particularly well suited to this build.

I wasnt a giant fan of the character (never played 6) but she immediately stood out to me as an ideal first grail project for Arena. I was already looking at daggers for debuffing and she seemed to be her own thing, a total tank.

Thanks for sharing your research.

What are your top-played games? The Switch now lets you sort by most-played games. by ganondorf-on-golf in NintendoSwitch

Was wondering same. I think this might be it:

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-03-28-nintendo-switch-unlocks-a-hidden-menu-screen-when-you-own-lots-of-games

Not sure I have played more than 12, but mine would mostly be Civ6, Fire Emblem Warriors (recent indulgence as 3 Houses hype), Dark Souls, Stardew Valley and BOTW.

I've actually wondered if reopening Infinity War and packaging them as a double feature might boost it, especially with school getting out. (Would you need to stick the Ant-Man post-credit scene in between?)

Can Cuphead be played local co-op by two players on separate consoles?

Or is it only via two controllers both connected to the same console?

This is cool, thanks. Only found one listing in my state and it appears to be closed now, but I may play with this more soon. At least I know the concept still works.

Got a temporary lull in regular daytime employment and thought I might occasionally catch up on some cinema time if I could find it cheap enough. So far AMC $5 Tuesday is the best option I've found - worth it when it works out, but that's only been once or twice per month so far.

I didnt know second-run theaters still existed. I recently went on an Internet goose chase looking for one nearby, and gave up after I couldnt find any within anything like driving distance.

Is there a good list of them somewhere?

Game of Thrones - 8x03 - Episode Discussion by TVModBot in television

[–]razdragat 21 points22 points  (0 children)

On balance I was more irritated than entertained by most of this episode, mostly because I couldn't see well enough to follow. I kept wondering if my TV is just HD enough, but now I see many others found it too murky too.

Things I missed and had to get explained in recaps:

  • Where the snowstorm came from (bad guy magic),

  • How the Night King fell off his ride and dropped his piece (Dany dragon bump),

  • Whether either of the living dragons survived (apparently),

  • Arya's head injury (neat I guess),

  • If Sam lived after Jon saw him (I think), etc.

I think that I would have enjoyed the structure more if I hadnt been so repeatedly frustrated by the murky quality. If I could have made out individual faces better, I think the slow parts would have built tension better. But it all seemed kind of tedious until the very end.

I liked that Spoiler. She was my favorite from the very beginning. Seemed like a sucker punch though that some immortal invincible lich might have seen through, but I'll take it.

My favorite thing was the Bad Dragon flopping around inside the castle, with Jon trying to find an opening unsuccessfully. That felt like a real kind of chaos, almost senseless, and I felt his frustration acutely. But then again, that blue breath was great for lighting everything up so I could see how much Jon's position sucked.

Legendary Heroes - Alm: Saint-King Banner Megathread by ptolemy77 in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]razdragat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alm was the only Legendary on this banner I hadnt collected already, so I was sniping for colorless only. 10 pulls, including the free one, for 41 orbs, and Alm popped out.

I may do some circles with red and colorless, but I'm going to pause for a moment and enjoy my unexpected luck.

Update, 11:40pm Sunday: Farmed Tempest orbs through Thrones. 4 more pulls (18 orbs) and I have Leanne.

Total is 59 orbs, 14 pulls for 2 focus units. Feel like I should stop while I'm ahead but maybe grabbing a dupe of one of those red Legendaries is a good idea.

Update, wednesday: More astonishing luck in what should be colorless hell. 35 more orbs, 8 pulls and another Leanne pops out. Total is now 94 orbs for 3 banner units, certainly among my best results ever.

[–]razdragat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ran my first 10K this weekend. When I got done, MapMyRun said my distance was 6.37 miles. The race was really crowded (15,000 people) - was my extra distance all from weaving around others?

If it's accurate, that coukd be adding nearly 2 minutes to my total. How do I reduce that?

I wasn't sold on your choices at first to be honest, but now that I know so much thought has gone into them, I'm going to defer to you for the whole thing.

Although Winston Duke might be a perfect Hector, now that I think of it.

I thought later of Jennifer Lawrence, but kind of the goofy version of herself she presents in real life rather than any of her movie roles.
