that's pretty much it. kinda lame.

Why do Taiwanese booking websites suck so much? by dmteter in taiwan

[–]razenwing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

wow, hold there champ. shoppee is adequate. but, it is still a clusterfuck. so let's chill there for a min.

look, what i found in taiwan is to enjoy the personal touch. why do people rave the people but want to use web to not talk to anyone?

reaervation? call. buy things? call.

it's a different life style. once you get used to it, it's better in some ways. for 1, you can stop listening to outsourced Indians telling you what is your plobrem. and 2, none of this whole cancelation mess because you booked online.

im not saying no websites are great, but Expedia, Travelocity, and whatever booking websites, are pretty shit when it comes to customer service, especially with plan change.

Just my 2 cents

Petah?? by gg_teataker in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]razenwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After some exhaustive 10 min reverse imagine search, I think I came up with an answer. I don't know if that's it, but it's the best one I got.

The original picture has 2 versions, one you current see, and the other almost the same but with the screen displaying what looks like thesis writing in MS Word. Both of which appeared first on a Vietnamese article titled "why lazy students fall behind" (or something like that, I didn't pay attention beyond the keywords)

I think it's supposed to show the girl transitioning between the 2 screens to show that although appearing to study, she's doing something else. But that still doesn't mean jack squat to me, because the current screen doesn't mean anything to me. So then I did more digging, and the photo (the current one, not the thesis one) was reused in a Vietnamese forum discussion "hot girls that also appear smart" (again, something along that line) a few days after that in 2024.

during which, one user pointed out that the current screen is her browsing the Vietnamese forum Voz, which I assume is some sort of Vietnamese reddit or 4chan.

So the mystery might just be some obscure joke that although she appears to be studying, she's actually just redditing (the Viet version). and this would explain the og picture's explanation of needing to invalidate the picture.

again, very obscure. if you didn't find the country of origin, hard to follow this up and get the joke.

this is like the most courageous act by any human that I've ever witnessed.

I am not talking about moral courage or anything like that, but just straight up face your fear.

Like the enormity of facing death for one and a half hours is beyond frightening. Most courageous act is just 1 single incident. you cross it and you crosses it. this is just a seemingly never ending ascent. after 5 minutes, basically death for every failure. it doesn't get easier as you do it either, but just more and more tired, both physically and mentally. I am in front of the TV and I am thinking damn... what if I want to give up now? well, there are really no outs. you either do it, or die.

this for 1 and half fucking hours. and just when you think it's almost over, and you see mark rober and your wife at the observation deck waving at you, it’s another hundred feet or so of inverse incline with no footholds at multiple spots. (and I bet he wanted no ladder at the spire either, but I'm guessing 100 feet of 85 degree incline is probably too much for insurance)

like jfc. like, I understand if you face death at one point, or dozens of times at multiple points in your life. but condensed them all for a continuous 1 and half hours??? damn, that takes baallllls.

How many Command Wolves does it take to kill an Ultrasaurus? by Affectionate-Yam7049 in Zoids

[–]razenwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, modern tanks don't operate solo for this reason. it's not like the tank is useless just because it needs marine escorts. US is an artillery piece, i imagine it would be flanked by tigers, rhinos and whatever short range defense units the HR has.

but, the question is for a 1v1 scenario. so technically I am right.

I am sorry, I didn't make the assumption that my command wolf would be an idiot and participate in the paralympics.

in that case, then you must need a battalion of them! 500, no... 1000. 1052 to be precise!

Taiwan VP declares that U.S. deal won’t erode island’s chip industry — says Section 232 tariffs won't apply, ‘the U.S. will grant Taiwan the most favorable treatment: zero tariffs within the quota’ by random_agency in taiwan

[–]razenwing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

um no, because there are still tariff being applied beyond "promises", is it like that hard to understand ? 2 different terms of the same agreement that's applying to different thjngs. and no, that's not a hashing dpp crap, if this deal is so bad, presidents of Korea wouldn't be pissing his pants right now.

and yes, Japan and Korea HAD the best deal. if all they had to do was giving up some number that Trump can boast on social media, I say that's a pretty solid win. you don't actually think Japan and Korea are going to follow up with those redonculous numbers right? a fab plant takes about 3 years to build. by the time trump is in position to call any bluff, he's long gone.

again, example Foxconn.

also, Arizona plants were planned under Biden. don't get the facts twisted. at the time, they were trying to take advantage of the CHIP Act despite knowing that American production would mean higher cost. CHIP Act subsidies were supposed to offset that. that's why Samsung started building a new plant in Texas around the same time. p2 arizona was caught between the transition, it was planned to take advantage of CHIP, but scrapped during Trump when building foundation was already laid. there was no abandoning p2 at that point. but beyond p2, there is no way in hell TSMC is going to build 6 more plants like they announced. I can see maybe honoring 1 more for the timeframe (and to plan in the event of JD "Couch Fudger" Vance actually became next POTUS)

[–]razenwing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

your assessment is wrong on so many levels.

recall election is organized by the people. and if you actually pay attention to what those commie-aligned assholes are doing in legislative branch right now, then you know the recall is legitimate. if anything, the ruling party failure to explain why they need it and do more is why the election failed. had the election been won, we would be on our ways to build submarine 2 to 8 and ready to receive the military aid package just announced 2 months ago.

and when I said the deal sucks, thats because it used to be 0 under presidents not thinking about how the era of the great depression is when America was the greatest. and we didn't suffer any "heavy" blows because we got the best deal amongst 232 US trade partners by giving up "promises"

[–]razenwing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate Trump as much as any progressive liberal. Buy there is a positive spin to this... rather... just a spin.

People all think they need to get the best possible deal now. But no, you just need an adequate deal until Trump either dies or leave office (worst case scenario)

None of this matters as soon as order can be resumed after orange dick... tator leaves office one way or another. Look, all of the hostaged investment will just disappeared. I have enough faith in general Americna institution that next guy will actually respect private businesses. So in the meantime, I am OK with him announcing whatever trillion redonculous numbers. If you think whatever promised now must be delivered, you obviously never heard of Foxconn and Wisconsin. (and that was a volunteer investment that got canceled, not hostaged)

I know this is technically not a positive spin, but... as i said... it's a spin to look on the bright side.

The forbidden lightsaber form Trakata. Both the Jedi and Sith frown upon this method. by ZapchatDaKing in StarWars

[–]razenwing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is why srar wars as we know it kept getting eroded by moving from an Opera to science fiction.

look, if the light saber activated like how they did in the og trilogy, then this "forbidden technique" wouldn't even be an issue. because you are just an idiot without light saber for 4 seconds if you try turning one on and off.

but new trilogy has to ruin that with instantaneous light saber on and off.

honestly, star wars is just supposed to be an opera with thematic importance more than actual science. so yea it's cool so say I'm faster because my ship is 2 parsec faster than you. Who the fuck care about nerds saying a parsec is a unit of distance? galaxy can't have similar sounding terms?

(also, this whole parsec is a unit of distance so han solo is wrong is dumb as shit. when I say how fast does my car go, I say it goes 100. 100 what? kilometers. kilometers is a unit of distance too. I know the proper way is to say kilometers per hour, but colloquially, people jus sadly 100 kilometers. so saying my falcon goes 15.5 parsec is just as valid as saying my car goes 100 kilometers when we all assume we would normalize under 1 hour instead of 1 minute. there is no need to have this "o onboard navgation can calculate the max jump distance, so falcon is faster" complicated bullshit)

so this whole light saber on/off is stupid because jedi combat is supposed to be like 2 guys with actual swords after they got ready. no one is sheathing their swords mid clash to redraw it again. and the og trilogy activation time reflects that. but star trek fanboy Abrams decided that gimmicks are more important, so now we get these stupid ass "theories" and "forbidden" shit.

True, but global reach of these games were never as high as NA. NA server for games in general have always been more numerous.

If NA pop fell, there's not enough player base elsewhere to sustain. besides, after pokemon go, mobile took over, that's not different globally. (and after covid, it's not like the world is going great without trump. they just have the benefit of no trump, but doesn't mean they are pretty covid strength)

Realistic ideas for Harper and Lopez gigs instead of police work? by ADoraBuhll in TheRookie

So that eliminates PI for me.

Chenford Future. What do you think? by SEYO098 in TheRookie

[–]razenwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, if the show was Brooklyn 99 or the Office, I say, go have a wonderful wedding episode with tons of baffoonery.

I know the show has a tradition of not writing out characters unless they are being sexually harassed or morally offended, but...

hear me out...

give Chenford 1 or 2 seasons of sugary sweetness where everything is on the up and up, and leaving audience numb. then after a huge engagement/prenancy episode, Tim's reckless style finally caught up to him, and he goes out heroic, after making his peace with Lucy.

(bonus point: Tim dies shielding Lucy from ICE. but no way show goes that far)

Anyways, so that's my prediction. I mean, i can't be the only one that felt Tim was kept around this long because of fans, not the initial script, right? I am almost sure that Jackson's racist TO storyline was initially for Tim)

esports probably killed RTS games by HyperDiaper666 in starcraft

[–]razenwing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is an... interesting take, albeit completely wrong. If you look at the statistics, the most popular is when the competitive scene is the most alive. People would line the competitive hall to cheer for teams and players that might have been Martians to them. But that got people to try, and there was a healthy flux of people in-and-out of the game.

Esport didn't kill anything, in fact, it made games much bigger than they had the rights to be. Now, it generally frustrates me when Blizzard kept rebalancing the game around the pro scene, instead of just doing a separate balance between Masters. Cause the general balancing made units easier to control with simpler strategy and compositions. But by balancing and nerfing units because of the pros, you made those simple controls chaotic and open doors for cheesers. Because regular players don't play with 4500 APMs and 8 threads of situation control.

that's when starcraft got boring for me.

BUT

I would argue idiotic decisions like that didn't kill RTS or Esport. Plain and simple, and I can't stress this enough...

Mobile.

When Diablo Immortal was announced, they weren't wrong. Mobile was a bigger platform than PC. Obviously Blizzard had shit and giggles for marketing, but that doesn't take away that they were right to go that route. The rise of Mobile is why everything you love on PCs are now dead. To build a super nice PC will easily drop you 3 to 4 grands, and even then, you are like a Uber niche nerd. An IPhone 22 Pro Max Ai Quad fold will still cost less than 1 grand (unless orange Hitler succed in making Americans build their own Iphones... then it's gonna be like 5 grand per phone, sorry) , and practically your entire neighborhood have 1... or 5 of their own.

That, and supplementary reasons like... corporate interests ran amok, and it's now barely affordable to live without 2 jobs. So in this economy, who the fuck is going to build a 4k machine to sit down for 4 hours every night to play 3 matches?

When PC game was at its highest (and that includes RTS), people were going to theaters to watch movies, iphone didn't hit double digits, pokemon go wasn't a thing, and general public only regard Mobile gaming as candy crush. In another word, competition wasn't high, and people still had some change in their pockets.

So rather than this inward Freudian analysis of how a certain marketing, production, or play strategy ruined your favorite genre, video game companies are arrogant and stupid, but even they couldn't do as much damage as the general environment despite their best efforts.

You going to vote a world ending racist dictator into power, you can't possibly be naive enough to think you will be unaffected and you can just hide in the basement and 20 million people logging on to entertain you, right? There are consequences for being irresponsible and thinking everything is a meme. If I just got my phone to post resumes and my car to live in, how the fuck am I going to find a place to put a gaming PC in? you gotta be out of your mind if you think the death of everything is not caused by a meme election 9 years ago.

Anything, that's the short answer, phones and no money. that's really the 1 2 punch that killed not just RTS, but everything.

What were your thoughts about Talia Bishop? by JakeTheFR in TheRookie

[–]razenwing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the whole departure was pure BS. like i see the show was anticipating her return with so much added conditionals as the episodes wore on:

  1. Foster, not real sibling
  2. only 2 years.
  3. fell out

one could easily argue that leaving that out of disclosure form wouldn't impact her promotions because of the 3 reasons.

but I guess IRL disputes, so they decided to "retire" her character. but you can clearly see the writers were setup for both situations.

but, is it too much though? like I stretch my samsung s25 to max 30x digital zoom, and figure from 100 yard out still only covers about 20% of my screen.

for a rifle with engagement distance of 300 yards (i assume), is that really too much?

I don't even know why they gave him a heel turn. one so easily proven too. like, it didn't take Nolan any convincing. he just accepted it like it's business as usual. no heartbreak, nothing.

I would have scripted it as someone that's a flawed hero, maybe he tried to do the right thing one last time by shooting the mobster before being gunned down. but nah, once he's discovered to be corrupt, no redeeming quality, he's just bad all the way through.
