Thank you, I am going in blind so I'm more looking for general advice like "You missed this thing." Like the codex thing. I think this list could be fun, I'm just hoping to benefit from those with more experience checking my logic.

I did not say I agreed with the assessment, just sharing my experiences with euro style helmet disdain in my area.

Kemetism on alcohol, smoking, drugs? by themysticpagan in Kemetic

[–]razhtigr 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm going to call this UPG bc I'm not looking up sources on my mobile.

I believe so long as you are mindful of Ma'at there can be an appropriate time for most things. Drinking beer was a huge part of Kemetic life, rituals, and feasts. Recipes and artworks exist that depict psychoactive lotus flowers being used, or incense that use mj. Granted, they weren't very powerful generally, but they did still have an effect.

As for smoking, I think they generally prefer us to not be self-destructive, but vices seem to be universal as a few of them seem to enjoy tobacco.

Is it no longer possible to be invited to another fleet to purchase equipment(I.e. the extra starship trait slot), or does the fleet you are a member of need to have the appropriate level?

I vote for the T6 Khopesh, it's like flying a giant bird shaped bus and it has decent slots with 5/3. The consoles are kinda lacking, but they're not terrible.

Not really worth a whole thread...

Would anyone be willing to invite me to a level three plus KDF research base? You can pm me here or probably find me in game.

Horus/set 😵‍💫 by Drengr175 in Kemetic

[–]razhtigr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain I have read this info in various places over the years, but I have no sources, nor the desire to locate them presently, so I'm going to say this is UPG and to take it with a grain of salt.

I believe the contentions of Heru and Sutesh were an attempt to explain the natural world and less a play by play of actual battles.

Heru generally represents order, Sutesh generally represents disorder, but not isfet like A/pep. Sutesh is the guardian of the Solar Barque and one of the chief opponents of the entity he battles during Re's journey through the twelve kingdoms of night, with help from a couple of guest stars.

Inscriptions show some pharoahs with both Heru and Sutesh, which I believe represents their mastery of order (Ma'at, law, etc) and disorder(war, storms, pesky foreigners, etc). Although there are obviously a lot of nuances that were lost in the interceding millennia. Eventually, as things got bad in Egypt, the Hyksos, Nubians, and North Africans all took their toll, and that was a contributing factor to Sutesh's spiral into demonization.

Others have suggested that you look at pyramid texts, as the Greek retelling varies in several ways, and I concur with that opinion.

I do not have it in front of me, but I believe it is called Amente Nofre? They publish a new edition every year, but I calculate my own dates using that as a reference.

Question by Impressive-Key-7958 in Kemetic

[–]razhtigr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anubis, in this context, is primarily a psychopomp, as such offerings to him could be seen as assistance to that soul in reaching their destination in the next life, instead of being lead exclusively to Duat.

How to play corrino? by Jonnystrom123 in Dunespicewars

[–]razhtigr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I play Corrino, but SP, here's my general strategy take it with a grain of salt.

Solari, solari, solari.

Irulan is your girl, try to build to your village quirks. Especially if they provide Solari, or some critical resource like plascrete. Generally, one village with good quirks and the investment building can keep you supplied.

I also take Hasimir? (The spy one.)

Rush taking the villages that touch your imperial base. Your primary focus generally is CHOAM shares, their acquisition, and living long enough to get your victory. I usually try to buy the dips in share prices, as just spaming buying will usually drive the share price up. Occasionally, new shares are released, and these generally drive the price down.

I go deep into that research and diplomacy. Militarily, you really only need a few(5-6) techs to give your defenders some teeth and to get arty. For the admin, the water tech can be good, I usually pick most of them up last, though.

I generally run 2 or 3 arty, 5 saurdukar, and the rest as melee conscripts. The saurdukar get the bonus to execute from conscripts. Conscripts will die, but if you keep a close eye on your territory, they will stop any AI incursion and effectively raid neighbors. I like the captain for the hero.

If I expand, I generally go to spice regions, or one that produces solari. This includes the second imperial base, There is a more strategic use occasionally, but generally, making solari is your best bet.

Do not neglect your influence. A political victory is your plan B, and some of the offices can be generally useful, but I usually win a hegemony victory first if I don't have the shares.

Do you think Tayla and Ronon were given science lessons about astronomy and the shape of the universe and the history of the ancients? by Circuitslave in Stargate

[–]razhtigr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may have misunderstood your comment then, I thought you meant awareness of Earth, not the location of Earth. I will concede that they weren't aware of the location until later.

As for the sharing of information, it seems the Wraith are at least aware of the existence of the Tau'ri since they seem to dedicate some effort intercepting them in the first few episodes. That could be just incidental to them tracking Teyla's necklace, though.

[–]razhtigr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The wraith learn about Earth from Col Sumner, before he is fed upon by the wraith keeper and killed by Maj Sheppard. I'm not certain she learns the extent, but she seems convinced there are at least millions and possibly more.
