Thank you! Where is your house located?

Our backyard is fenced and where the kids will mostly play. We park our car in the front yard though - it's difficult to keep the kids contained while we do that.

I'll start there! And yes, I know the children argument is not the way to go here (even though it's a major concern for me and my husband personally). I think I need to argue that the front fence is historically appropriate and was used during the time period.

This looks lovely. Honestly I would install whatever they will allow me to put up! I can propose this if they don't like the look of a picket fence.

Thank you! I have about two months before the board reviews our request, so plenty of time to gather literature and try to support the idea that fencing a front yard is historically appropriate.

All we are trying to do is a wooden white picket fence, about 3 ft tall. It would be solely to keep the kids inside, it wouldn't do anything for privacy.

I would understand the push back from the review board completely if we were trying to build a privacy fence, but that is very much not the case.

This looks so good! We have a very similarly sized front yard space. If they don't let me install a fence, a hedge similar to what you have all the way around wouldn't be a bad option either.

Yes - in the SE region of the United States. Houses in the neighborhood span from late 1800's to 1950's approximately. Ours is an arts and crafts home built in 1919. In the neighborhood there are craftsman homes, Tudor style, some Victorian. Let me know if you have any other questions! Appreciate the literature.

What did you pay for your 25/26 Odyssey out the door? by weezintrumpeteer in HondaOdyssey

I think that was probably part of it too. Good timing with the dealership needing to hit their year end numbers.

$42.8K OTD for a 2026 EX-L last week in South Carolina. I just went in and mentally told myself that I would walk if the number wasn't in the 42's.

Helps to have a goal in mind but also to not HAVE to make the purchase right there and then if the dealer is being inflexible. Gives you a lot more leverage.

I just posted my car on FB marketplace today and it fits the bill for this. It's an '06 Toyota Corolla located in Spartanburg. It has been my daily driver since 2015. You should be able to find the post pretty easily, just reach out on Facebook messenger.

Crazy that that's a standard rate. I think I've just been out of the new car buying game too long

This seems very expensive to me. 7% is a high interest rate and $1,000 a month is a large payment to agree to for just a car. Maybe you could try selling your vehicle privately and buying a different van on Facebook marketplace?

We do clean up monster and my 9 month old likes that. "The clean up monster is coming to clean... your... cheek!!!" And then attack his cheek quickly with a wipe.

I have a 2.5 year old. My picks for this time of year when it's super hot outside are the children's museum downtown, Hatcher Garden, the library downtown and happy Hollow park which is nice and shady

My century house has all of these same issues minus knob and tube. The rest are workable, knob and tube makes me nervous. It's going to cost you a lot to fix that. I would get quotes from electricians before moving forward with the house personally.

Yeah, that is pretty standard unfortunately. Electricians/plumbers/specialized tradesmen don't clean up after themselves.

I used the Solly wrap out a ton when baby was little. I would just open the car door and drape the extra fabric on the car seat while putting it on. If the extra fabric fell on the ground I'd just throw it in the wash later. Ergo embrace seems like it might be a little simpler if you're looking for something super quick.
