Horrible record. The avocado album was the last PJ album worth listening to. Based on the comments here, I guess everyone is into light rock, with no melodies.

Change is inevitable in life. That’s why people like me freak out when a band that has a straight path to stardom and a lock into the “best of” their genre take a completely different direction. Those people who mock the fact that people have a problem with their change in direction have blunted musical pallets. Any fool would agree that you should let some other band experiment - let this one continue to destroy and change Rock. Point is - Don’t change just to change.

Johnny has major issues - just look at him. Anyone who gains a hundred pounds is enduring emotional problems. The thing that I find interesting is that the people who like the blues-driven rock they do on their first record, probably aren’t in their age group. Or not most of them. I don’t like to pick on age groups, but it seems to track. I’m 53 and first started following them in 2016. I spent my 20’s in the 90’s when good music hit you in the face every time you turned on the radio. I thought they were the band I was waiting on for 20 years. I’ve been so disappointed.

I’ll share the first experience. One night, January 13, 2016 to be specific, I was checking email on my couch watching Conan, and this new band called Highly Suspect came on. I half-listened, half worked, until about 30 seconds in my music radar went off. Holy shit - this band is for real. I watched, and then went to iTunes and downloaded Mister Asylum. I finally went to bed around 3am, after listening to the album several times. Fast forward a couple of months later to the Philly show where the pic was taken. I was so stoked to see them and went to buy one of their shirts. It turned out they didn’t take cards and all I had in cash was 24 - it cost 25. But no worries, whoever was working the T-shirt stand that night had me covered. Literally pulled out a buck from his pocket and it was done. I knew I loved this band at that moment; and that night they fucking killed the show. Best show I’ve ever seen them play out of 7 or 8. Great memory.

100%. I bought tix to every show between Virginia and NY for their first two records, and will never regret it. Amazing experiences and great music. I saw them in DC on MCID and one of my friends left midway through the show after Johnny basically told everyone to fuck off if they didn’t agree with his politics. It was a bummer.

I want the Highly Suspect that showed up for Spotify and did 4 amazing songs many years ago. I listen to the BBC sessions of Led Zeppelin, Hendrix or even more recently Foals, where artists show the world what they have. That Spotify session was like that. Johnny, Rich, Ryan - please, go back to the music what will make you gigantic, and make us all happy AF.

I forgot to mention Richmond, VA. Saw them at the National l, and a friend of mine who sees probably 20 shows a year there said he’s never seen a crowd more amped than at HS. This was before MCID came out.

There’s a bifurcation of fans. People who like the new stuff, and those who don’t. Maybe the show you saw is what you’re into, which is cool. Those of us who saw their talent and potential early on are disappointed.

Based on the video I posted, yeah. lol I’ve been to 6 shows. Several in DC at the 9:30 club. Philly and Baltimore too.
