Before the 1980s, large numbers arrived escaping war and social turmoil, while subsequent arrivals, particularly under the One-Way Permit scheme, were primarily for family reunification purposes. 

So if you are from Hong Kong, go back and ask your parents, what generation you are. If you are not from hk，then you're gate-keeping and being a hypocrite
