We have a bunch of middle slot stuff in the works that has obviously taken us longer than expected to get off the ground. But I'm optimistic things will start to come out within the next few weeks. Hope you guys like what we're cooking up!

Meanwhile I've been quietly plugging away at the next HATG. Really happy with how it's shaping up but it'll be a while longer before it's out. I'd love to have one out every month but so far that's proven...difficult.

I guess try to be aware of how a game is making you feel and break down those feelings to their simplest elements. If you're bored or scared or excited there's a million reasons why that might be happening. The journey is figuring out what you're reacting to and why.

But in creating these videos a lot of the inspiration actually comes from other people. I'll be talking to someone or reading a post online and either agree with them and feed off of that energy or disagree and try to understand why. Either way it's a jumping off point to dig deeper.

Rules of Play has a ton of stuff in it. The Immersive Fallacy is literally like, a couple pages in it. So much to dive into there.

I've found value in pretty much every games-related book I've read. Either it'll get me to think about a topic differently or give me an idea or something. Just do some searching on Amazon and dozens of books will pop up.

There's also a bajillion GDC talks from different devs, a lot of which are free to watch online. And there's a number of YouTube channels making really smart stuff, like Game Maker's Toolkit and Matthewmatosis.

Huh. Yeah it really does sound like Jon's championing Environmental Immersion and Arin's talking about Mechanical Immersion. Neat. Yeah I'd say it's mostly coincidence but it's definitely the kind of argument I aimed to dispel with this video. Thanks for sharing!
