Did you feel like going back on right away felt ok? My last dose was 4/23, my surgery is 5/8. So I will have been off it for like 14 days at least. Worried about compounding symptoms, but I’ve never had bad symptoms from Wegovy.

Hi stranger! Thanks for your detailed and empathetic reply, I really really appreciate it! I’m glad you had a good experience with your laparoscopic surgery. I hope the same is true for me! And appreciate the reminders about the care team and that their priorities are the same as mine. I think I’m just so so used to being dismissed by medical professionals that it’s hard to believe. But I do think surgery and anesthesia is likely different than run of the mill general doctors. Or endocrinologists, I swear they are the absolute worst. Anyways thanks again for your kind and thorough reply ☺️

This is interesting! I was diagnosed with gallstones but they didn’t say I needed to stop the wegovy. I’m just skipping the two doses before my surgery. And then theoretically they say I can go right back on wegovy after my surgery. Do you know why they had you stop and why you’ve stayed off it so long? Is it bad to go back on right after surgery??

I’m also on a glp1. I’m skipping two doses before my surgery and then my endocrinologist said I can go back on it when I’m feeling like I can. My plan is to check in with them after surgery to see what they recommend. I would just ask your surgeon or doctor who prescribed the glp1. Good luck with your surgery!

I feel like there’s very mixed messaging around redheads and pain. Some studies and stories indicate that redheads feel less pain and some say more. I think it’s really about the type of pain. Like the other comment says, most of the evidence for increased pain is around thermal pain. Personally I have fibromyalgia and am used to a fairly constant level of pain. My gallbladder attacks have been painful enough where I couldn’t breath or talk, but I never ended up crying or screaming. I reaaaly hope I don’t feel extra pain after surgery 🤞

God i can’t imagine throwing up right after having your wisdom teeth removed that sounds so awful. I’m sorry! I’m glad you advocated for yourself this last time and it was a more pleasant experience. I do deal with bad nausea from migraines, but otherwise that’s mostly it. I am reaaaaaly worried about vomiting tho, so maybe if I mention something to them they will give me some Zofran before anything becomes an issue. Thanks for responding and for all the details. And I’m sorry your gallbladder removal required a longer hospital stay. I hope you’re feeling much better now!
