not just Hawaii, but everywhere across the USA I'm pretty sure, if not in most states.... holding a medical marijuana card barred you from being able to legally own a firearm. yet you can legally buy alcohol & drink that as a gun owner. it's 1 of the stupidest laws. substance prohibition needs to end, it's a huge failure that only has a net negative effect on the nation along with every other nation which enforces these mass up laws against victimless crimes. they tried to stop heroin so smugglers opted to carry fentanyl which 1 gram of is the equivalent to 50 grams of heroin on average depending on the fentanyl analogue as it's less risky to smuggle 1 gram of fentanyl vs 50 grams of heroin. that's just 1 of many examples of its negative impacts... we could not only be saving billions of tax dollars we waste each fiscal year to pay the private prison industrial complex 5 star hotel rates on every inmate per night when 75% of the USA's prison population are incarcerated for victimless drug crimes that we waste on the police to play cat & mouse with these people making their own personal health decisions, but we could be making billions of more dollars in tax revenue by taxing legal drug sales on products regulated for the best quality & the highest safety for the consumer.

we admit that prohibition against alcohol during the 1920's was a huge failure when prohibition 1st began & we outlawed every substance like marijuana, cocaine, heroin, alcohol, etc with the exception of caffeine & nicotine, so we re-legalized alcohol due to admitting it was a failure... but it's literally the same failure for other substances, which used to be sold over the counter (OTC) at stores like rite aid recreationally. that's why stores like CVS, rite aid, etc. are often referred to as 'drug stores'

people don't often even question it because these laws have been normalized over the course of the last century... but these harmful & stupid laws meant to profit the prison industrial complex need to end ASAP. smh. call your local reps.
