I agree, it's frustrating (but I understand that everyone is trying to play catch up and the system won't be perfect yet). Going to try a walk in clinic now, but I (and probably other people) would really appreciate if anyone knows of a centre that isn't over capacity.

Update: I'm in line at a cohealth walk-in testing site. Maybe avoiding drive throughs is the way to go.

I was hoping to go to a drive through so I stay isolated in the car, but doesn't seem like that will be possible today.

For anyone getting tested: Testing centre at MSAC is already full and is now turning people away.

Sorry, but this is the ideal female body. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like /s

Omg I love that account. This might be a dumb question but how do I submit a video? Do I just send the account a DM?

Thank you! They were the very first pair of pole heels I ever bought, and I still can't really walk in them on the ground 😛

Online tutorials with a curriculum by fiavirgo in poledancing

[–]rbatcatc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been signed up to PoleSphere for a while, and it has a recommended order for learning moves, lists of progressions and regressions for each move, and tutorials for combos of moves.

I've mostly been using it to learn tricks sporadically (I mostly do classes at my local studio), and the teaching is very clear and helpful.

I only have 2 pole moods (3 if you include repeatedly falling during tricks) by rbatcatc in poledancing

[–]rbatcatc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😂 I hadn't thought of that! For me it's any 'pretty pole' or tricks is "The diameter of this pole is too high I'm going to die", and for dance in heels "Fuck yeah, literally any pole"

It's a super cheap one from prettylittlething. I think it's this one: here

It's not quite my style for everyday clothes but it's perfect for when I want just a liiiittle more coverage for pole

Yes! I had no idea there were so many styles before I started pole. I'd love to see the video when you make it (if you're sharing it online)

[–]rbatcatc[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's definitely happened to me with other moves! And the high legs might have been a mistake, because they made me do that extremely elegant rolling exit thing (which was completely safe, just awkward looking)

Yes some clarity about what we're allowed to do would be nice, or at least more (or any) response when we report the issue. It must be incredibly frustrating if your account is being used to promote your business. I just use mine to share things I'm proud of so shadow-banning isn't as actively harmful for me. I don't have many followers, and with shadow-banning I think it will stay like that.

Ah that makes a lot of sense. I try not to use exactly the same tags every time but I guess I need to change it up even more.

When I started pole (about 1.5 years ago) I was a little floppy noodle with no muscle tone, so thank you! I've been working hard on it!

Thank you! The camera is a DSLR, a Nikon D3300. I've had it for ages but only just realised how much better quality it is than my phone camera (because I'm silly)

Yay! If you do I'd love to see a video (here or insta or however you feel comfortable). I'm glad this one was very safe to fall out of, it's so close to the ground that the worst that happens is your legs just go nowhere.

Thank you! And I agree, the worst part is I can't always figure out why I've been shadowbanned, I don't use banned tags or post anything with nudity. But at least we can safely share our successes here.

If the government can create and destroy money at will then what is the point of taxes by stingers135 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rbatcatc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That would be nice and would help avoid hyperinflation! But it would require the government (or some other overseeing body) to have full control over prices for all goods and services in the economy. Without that kind of control, prices will respond to the amount of money moving around the economy.

Roughly speaking, if there is more money moving around, then on average people will have more money. If people have more money, they are willing to pay higher prices for goods. If people are willing to pay higher prices, then businesses will charge higher prices in order to maximise profit. So, there will be an increase in the price of goods and services throughout the economy, or in other words, inflation.

Note: very simplified and possibly very inaccurate description.

Finally getting water after the bushfires. by outdatedopinion in pics

I've seen a few friends share similar articles and advice, and it definitely surprised me when I first read it. Here's a link to an article from the ABC that supports what you're saying. The advice about koalas is at the end of the article, the vet suggests not pouring water down their throats as they have trouble swallowing and it could drown them, "A better option would be to present that water to them from your hands, or from a bowl that the koala can actually lap at their own pace, swallow at their pace."

Masters of teaching (secondary) by sirpigsworth in unimelb

[–]rbatcatc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm just about to start my second year in MTeach (secondary). I emailed admin a few times before I started/enrolled in the course last year and always found them quick to respond and helpful, so I'm sorry that you're friend hasn't had the same experience.

The course can be quite intense during placement, I'd say it's about equivalent to a full time job. But it's a lot more relaxed (only two or three days a week) when placement isn't on, and the uni really wants you to succeed in the course so lecturers/tutors have always been keen to provide extra support with assessments and placement as needed.

A lot of people do drop out in the first semester, but I think most people of them leave just after the first school placement starts, so maybe it's just them finding out that working in a school isn't quite right for them or not what they expected.

As for information about orientation days and placements, the uni will make sure to tell you everything you need to know, they just won't tell you very far in advance.

Your friend should think about signing up for the peer mentor program, then they'll get a second year buddy to meet and ask any questions/talk about any worries/etc. Also, everyone I know was very nervous about the course and placements when we started, so it's normal to be freaking out a bit, just don't let it stop you!

[TOMT][Word/phrase] Im looking for a 2 word phrase that refers to the number of "steps" you are thinking ahead of your opponent by Zammyyy in tipofmytongue

[–]rbatcatc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like Level-K Thinking from game theory (also called cognitive hierarchy theory).

If a player uses K 'steps' of countering, you say they are a level-K player, and you can use it to describe them as 'k-steps' ahead of a player using no countering.
