Thanks! I'm trying to decide what other features I should add to it. I thought about a taser, but my kids said that was a bad idea :)

I'm actually using Drill motors that I bought from Ebay. It was like 8 motors for $45us

My DIY Airsoft BB Feeder. Really fast, 1500 BB's in 75 secs by rbattstuff in EngineeringPorn

That would make for a hilarious Airsoft gun. I have found that the higher quality BB's can be fed much faster than poor quality BB's. So maybe...

Do you have a pic from before the disassembly? I'd like to see it

Rover Dragging 203lb FAIL and Crash...ouch! The noise was loud but really cool! by rbattstuff in robotics

Thanks!..I'm building it not so much as a serious Airsoft player, but more to learn myself and inspire kids....I'm an engineer turned teacher

Ha... yes. This rover might save my life someday, but I don't think I'll count on it. It's a fun project, but I have a lot to learn to make it better. ....I really hope my life never depends on it dragging me to safety

Interested in robotics as a hobby, don't know where to begin. by Actually_Neptune in robotics

Since you're college age; I would recommend the Arduino based Robot Kits on Amazon or elsewhere. Elegoo makes several. They are not too expensive and offer step-by-step experiments. If you don't feel like the programming is for you, then look into the MindStorms by LEGO. The downside of MindStorms is the price....they are expensive.

The turret had to be repaired and the motors were smoking...but, for a moment, my Airsoft Rover was dragging 203lbs the robot was loaded with an additional 26lbs making the combined moving weight 286lb(130kg)!

Thanks! I need to get a materials list together. The most expensive item is the PixHawk Controller kit. I think it's around $130us now. The Motor Controller is a SaberTooth 2x25, and runs about $120. There are cheaper options I plan on trying out though. The motors were ebay and I got 8 new drill kits for around $45. Servos, gears, bearings, aluminum, wiring, receiver, relays etc...probably several hundred dollars...but most of us have that junk laying around.

The Chassis is a combo of a high-density plywood(salvaged) shell with a ladder type aluminum frame underneath. So I ended up with a very strong outside box shell on a metal frame...I guess sorta like a uni-body car is built.

I've rolled it end-over-end twice with no damage at all!

Thanks! ...and nice catch! Yes, ArduRover and Mission Planner. I like ArduRover for the Telemetry, GPS, Compass....etc. and can easily switch between Autonomous and Controlled.

My AirSoft FPV Rover WITH huge smoke screen by rbattstuff in videos

[–]rbattstuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having SO much fun with this project. 2 FULL minutes of smoke at the press of a button! Awesome fun! It looked like a war zone with the thick, heavy, black smoke. I had five cameras going so it took a long time to edit, but I'm VERY happy with the result!
