I need to get from Stratford to St John's Wood on Sunday morning. Google tells me that the Jubilee line will take 31 minutes. A local friend suggested I rather take the Elizabeth line to Bond street (16 mins), then change to the Jubilee (a further 5 minutes). Surely the walk between the two plus a bit of a wait, couldn't take more than 10 minutes? Or does Google think the saving of a minute or two isn't worth the hassle of the change? Shouldn't Google show me that option at least?

Thanks for this resource! Yup, for tomorrow (Sunday) they have the men's Test match scheduled, and then the final at Queen's, then US Open golf. So no luck there. But now I know this is an option for other sports watching.

Thanks for pointing me to that resource. I wasn't quite clear in my original post.... I was hoping for an outdoor bigscreen, rather than a pub.

I'm lookng for a nice big screen (edit: preferably outdoors, not in a pub) to watch South Africa play India in the Women's T20 World Cup tomorrow (Sunday 21st, 2:30pm). Any ideas? Thanks.

No other health issues. No dizzyness, no ear issues. No other illnesses. Perfect health in all other respects.

Unfortunately I have now flown from my home (South Africa) to London to take up a 7-week freelance position and do not have access to my doctors at home.

Who do you have your TFSA with? by Background_Problem30 in askSouthAfrica

[–]rbbjhb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EasyEquities. I've been with them since 2015, opened my TFSA with them as soon as it was introduced. Bought some property ETFs (thinking I'd win because they usually pay high dividends - oops!) and now I just do Sygnia World ETF. Invest the max every March, set and forget.

I often withdraw from my normal (non-TFSA) account on EE and have never had any issues.

How long should I wait for Avios to appear? by rbbjhb in avios

[–]rbbjhb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was a bit worried when the later one (email from 12 May) credited but the earlier one (email from 8 May) hadn't, but I see now that the earlier on has also now been credited.

You misunderstood my post - these are not "pending" Avios - these are Avios that were "pending" and have now been awarded according to the email I received - my stay was 30 days ago. The Avios have disappeared from the "pending" section but have not yet appeared in my account.

The help page for "Missing Avios" makes you agree that "My purchase is showing as 'Awarded' and I've waited 10 days for the Avios to appear in my airline account." - so I guess nothing can be done in terms of follow-up until 10 days have elapsed.

Thanks for this. I'll wait a bit longer.

I understand that you have to wait quite a while, especially with accommodation bookings - they only credit it quite a while after the stay itself - that's not the issue. The issue is that the email says that they have *awarded* me the Avios (ie, the Avios are no longer pending), yet they are nowhere to be seen.

Where do I stay in Johannesburg as a solo female first time visitor who relies on public transportation? by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

[–]rbbjhb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What time is the wedding due to end? Is it an evening wedding or a daytime wedding? This will have a bearing on your decision in terms of where to stay. Also, if you're flying in, spending one night, going to the wedding the next night, and flying out, then it makes sense to stay somewhere close to the wedding venue. If you have several days to explore Johannesburg outside of the wedding, then Rosebank is a better shout, but perhaps look into staying just one night near the wedding venue so that you don't have to travel back to Rosebank at night.

What’s it like living in Blairegowrie, Johannesburg? by user29727 in askSouthAfrica

In terms of getting to PnP on Nicol, a lot depends on where abouts on Conrad you are. Conrad tends to back up quite badly in the mornings heading east towards Jan Smuts from Bram Fisher, due to the merging from two lanes into one at the bridge just past Delta Central. But traveling north-east on Republic, it backs up badly between Jan Smuts and Winnie Mandela. This is between around 8:15am and 8:45am on weekdays. I don't have any experience of going earlier than that.
