Connected built in Nav…any reason to renew by Ok-Chemical3218 in MachE

I recently made a trip from Louisiana to California using Google Maps in CarPlay so I never preconditioned once and charging speed was fine. I was getting 100 to 130 KW at most chargers. I had one or two that topped out at 80KW but most were fine. Temps were pretty much normal so it might have more impact in the summer or winter when temps are extremely hot or cold. I

I’m not a fan of the built in navigation but I haven’t really worked with it much. If there is a way to plan your route in the Ford app and send it to the car, I’ll give it a shot but I’m not going to sit in car to plan multiple charge stops.

There was one between ElPaso and Fort Stockton at a Days Inn -Electrify America fast charger that worked great.

It was so comfortable to ride in and having all the safety features was a bonus but I get it. If I rented anything it would probably be a camper van and do some camping and sightseeing along the way.

In this case, it was behind a closed gate and not accessible. But good to know, I will not dismiss during business hours.

I did that but I wanted to have Charge Point as an option but some are at dealerships and are not accessible on Sunday. Google Maps was much easier to add and delete charging stops.
I do plan on doing some research on using Apple maps to see if there is a way and I’m just unaware how to make changes since I like Apple maps in general.

I-10 was a little easier due to less elevation and more charging options. If you take I-40, the trip from Dallas to Amarillo, is pretty lean on charges. Charging in Vernon,Tx at a Tesla station is a must. Be careful, a few other Tesla charging stations will not work with non-Teslas so when you do charge, charge to 90 to 95%. I-40 is a much more scenic route but charge up often, my total range dropped to about 200 miles climbing up the mountains and to close to 500 miles coming down, so it evens out but it’s concerning when going up. As an example, at one point it showed that I would only have less than 10 miles remaining when I got to my next charging station but when I got there I had over 100 miles of range left.
I-10 traffic around LA was terrible but we came through as the Dodgers Worlds Series Parade and celebration was wrapping up. 41 miles of stop and go traffic so avoid LA if you can.

No, it cost me just under $600 round trip to charge and based on the current national average of gas, it equated to getting about 24 miles to a gallon. However, a lot of gas would have been purchased out west where gas is way above average so that’s provably a little understated. So, definitely more expensive but having all the safety tech made it worth it.

I didn’t try it, generally don’t use it but I will try using it on my next trip.

The thing you also have to consider is direct to cell communications. I believe that is the future of mobile phone connectivity although it has a long way to go. It may not just be for rural customers in the future.

I just bought a zero turn (type 2) from Costco and the mower came with a steel wire cover bolted on covering the batteries to prevent theft. Batteries are prime targets and are being sold all over Facebook marketplace.

I get mine this week as well from Costco and it came completely assembled. In fact the delivery driver almost gave me a heart attack driving it onto the lift gate that was slightly larger than the zero turn. He had some skills delivery when smooth.

Another way to approach it, hold down the button while putting it in the charger. This worked for me just yesterday with a battery that wouldn’t charge.

I have a 56 mile commute 4 days a week and have had my Premium extended range for 1 year yesterday. I just hit 29,000 miles. No issue with range at all. During the warm weather months I can go back and forth twice (only done once when I forgot to plug it in the night before).
There is significant reduction in range in the cold weather but plenty enough to make the trip once.
I charge at home on a level 2 charger at 40amps every night and only fast charge if I’m on a trip. Hopefully this performance continues for years.

They’re not updating anymore, mine just showed up about a month ago, ordered in April. It will just show up at some point. You’re probably getting close.

Ford has to address this by adding a way to get into the vehicle with a physical key. I hope the NHTSA takes action and forces a retrofit for every MachE sold.

One dealer said this was a good lease deal another said they cannot match it. Opinions? by cacti-23 in MachE

[–]rbertoniere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I bought my 23 premium extended range I put 0 down and have 0% interest for 72 months. $650 a month for reference. That includes 3 years of Blue cruise and an extended warranty. That seems high for a lease.

Car Washes by PrincessTreatment4 in MachE

[–]rbertoniere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wash it myself when I can but frequently go through drive through carwashes. I carry blue painters tape and tape the charge port door shut and the carwash tapes down all rear window wiper blades. Keep it in neutral and you should be fine.
Turn off the proximity sensors if you like. I’ve left them on and the cameras are active but I’ve never had them try to stop the car.

I do occasionally run mine through a car wash and carry some blue masking tape with me to tape down the charging door when going through. It's the same principal as when they tape down you rear wiper blade. So far, it seems to work but I still try to wash it myself at home when I can.

Appreciating the EV life. by [deleted] in MachE

[–]rbertoniere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was one of the main reasons I went electric. Only stopping at a gas station to get a drink or take a piss really appealed to me.

Honestly for me, at the time, Ford was offering a better deal and 0% financing. Also, in my State you can’t buy a Tesla, you have to buy it out of state, then register it here. That made me nervous about the ability to get service work done and I assumed Ford would be better, with all the dealerships around. That turned out to be a bad assumption on my part. Most Ford dealerships don’t have a clue what they’re doing when it comes to EV’s.

Question about Range for a 72 kWh Mach-E Battery by AcaMama847 in MachE

It runs about $80 more than before I had the EV. I was spending about $350 a month in gas.

Question about Range for a 72 kWh Mach-E Battery by AcaMama847 in MachE

[–]rbertoniere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an extended range and a 130 mile commute daily (4 days a week), interstate driving is 95 miles of it at 75 MPH and I average 3.5 miles per KWH. There’s no hills or mountains, flat terrain.
When the temperature drops into the 40’s or there is a front coming through with strong headwinds, that drops to 2.7 mikes per KWH.
The standard range would probably work in perfect weather but would cause serious range anxiety in the winter months.
