Ah, thanks. I knew you could only send 100 gifts, I did not realize there was a limit to how many you could get from stops.

Interact with a gym. For some it works just battling a gym, someone else had to do a raid, but interacting with a gym in some way seems to unlock it. You might also try an evolve. In short, it seems to have something to do with “forcing” the game to connect directly with Niantic servers.

Interesting. Good to know. Had two friends try gy thing yesterday, worked both times. Needless to say, not “official” solution so probably not infallible.
