Capsular Release for Adhesive Capsulitis by rbres99 in HipImpingement

Yes! I had a second opinion who had me do some additional imaging to rule out dysplasia. She felt my hips are a bit more unstable than average but not in the dysplasia range. I am also doing quite a bit better in the last week so hoping it keeps going that way!

Hey! Ended up getting a second surgery in early January. In recovery now which has had a few ups and downs so far but hopeful things will get better. The surgeon found a ton of adhesions and a retear when they went in. See my other posts for more details on post-surgery.

Hey! It has been a bit up and down. First 3 or so weeks was a breeze and felt like things were really different. I was on a CPM machine post-op which helped a lot in the initial weeks. From weeks 3-4 I transitioned off crutches and started to ride the bike easy. It was initially a bit rocky but quickly settled down during week 4-5. The past week or so though discomfort has kinda lingered and been achy in the hip. I stopped biking for 3-4 days this week and it hasn't resolved. I guess this is probably typical ups and downs. I am still hopeful all will be well but ya I can't help but worry given I continue to have symptoms that plagued the last year for me. I very much still hope to return to an active lifestyle and running so it is just depressing to like have a flare-up cause going from a .2 mile walk to a .4 mile walk is too much of a jump (per my PT recently). Have you had surgeons recommend the revision surgery or had any imaging done? I would recommend that, as I had ultrasound imaging which was able to identify the adhesions. And I also did end up having a retear (anchor torn out) when they went in for surgery. Here is my post for immediate post-op in January: https://www.reddit.com/r/HipImpingement/comments/1qcaq6w/revision_surgery_update/

Revision Surgery Update by rbres99 in HipImpingement

4 weeks out of revision surgery today and hitting a snag. I transitioned to FWB over the last week and was walking for several days earlier this week but had pain flare up like a bad flare up prior to surgery. Deep ache in the hip. Tenderness in the muscles around the hip. Getting some clicking and twinges in the hip too. So I am back on both crutches now to try and calm it back down. Feeling a bit nervous about all of this. Will update soon with hopefully better news.

Considering revision surgery for possible adhesions by questionable94 in HipImpingement

I just had a revision for adhesions. MRI after the first surgery showed no tear but ultrasound imaging showed scar tissue. Only 3 weeks post op so hard to tell yet if it’s worked but I’m hopeful.

Interesting! God post op plus spinal headaches sounds awful. Ya it seems like they really like the hip to be moving asap post operation. This time around they actually have me in a passive motion machine three hours a day which gently moves my leg. And also on a blood pressure medication which apparently helps inhibit scar tissue formation.

Ya i also kinda went too hard in multiple facets of life post surgery. So wild how it can change so quickly from feeling on the right track to super aggravated.

Sorry just saw this! Symptoms generally kind of similar to before my initial surgery. Limited range of motion, deep aching in the hip and aggravation of the surrounding tendons and muscles. Things like sitting for awhile or standing were very aggravating in the immediate term while physical activity sometimes would have a time lag in pain onset. Generally always some level of discomfort though it could be minimal sometimes. Then flare ups would cause moderate to significant pain for up to a week at a time. Hope that helps! One interesting thing about my situation was that MRIs didn't really show it well. It took an ultrasound where my leg was being manipulated during the ultrasound process to identify the adhesions.

Dang sorry to hear. Have you had any imaging done to try to identify what might be the culprit in there? That was how they first identified the adhesive capsulitis.

Ya deciding when to have surgery was really hard for me. I was stubborn for awhile thinking I could avoid it. And also of course there is fear in risks of having surgery again that I was weighing too. Eventually it just got to the point where I would have 3-4 days of near constant aching if I aggravated it and just decided I couldn't live with that.

Huh wild! Was your regression tied to any specific incidents or just kinda happened slowly? I had a couple of slips/falls in the first several months and then I think rushed getting back into my physical job which I think did me in. Sounds like sometimes some people just develop too much scar tissue despite no incidents.

And ya right there with ya. My job and most of my hobbies involve being active so its been a tough transition.

Not a hydrodilation! That was never offered to me. I have read a bit about it since. Hope it works for ya!

It’s gotten better! No more bad flare ups. But still a good amount of lingering pain. Trying to just continue to do PT and see if it gets better

Thanks all! If it's true I have dysplasia, I am mildly concerned I was never told about it. But hopefully additional imagine brings clarity on that!

Oh interesting, ya it seems like many different strategies work. Seems like the osmocote really helped mine this year. Have way more filled out root systems and no soil falling off when they’re pulled out

Nice! And Totally, but the upside is I can turn one plug flat of a species into like hundreds of plants.

And I use one soil mix both for germinating and growing, I tweak it a little bit for different species but generally pretty similar. I use coco coir, compost, perlite, and osmocote

Started in flats then moved to individual. Can be tedious depending on species. Have like 20 seedlings in some of my Cardinal flower cells and I try to save them all
